…when you’re in one, stop digging.
Last night on MSNBC’s “The Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell”, Bob Costas continued to make a fool of himself on the issue of firearm ownership, lamenting America’s supposed “Wild West, Dirty Harry” gun culture. Costas claimed that young men in their twenties and thirties are incapable of being responsible gun owners. Here’s a clip:

Tell me, Mr. Costas, do you believe the tens of thousands of young men serving in our armed forces to be incapable of handling firearms responsibly? Moreover, do you believe civilians like me – 37 years old and the holder of a Texas Concealed Handgun License – to be similarly incompetent?
Perhaps, to paraphrase William Shakespeare, the fault, dear Robert, lies not within our culture, but within yourself. Or as Dirty Harry succinctly stated in Magnum Force, “A man’s got to know his limitations.”
Since Jason Whitlock and Bob Costas think that Black men are not responsible enough to own guns, there should be a law prohibiting such ownership.
There has never been a White football player who killed his wife/girl friend and committed suicide, so obviously, they are responsible gun owners.
Mr. Costas made the rounds last night putting forth the same ‘arguments’.
In the minds of Costas and anti-gun crowd, young men in their 20s and 30s can not be expected to be responsible gun owners.
Pray, do they view the same said crowd when it comes to voting for their representatives and POTUS?
I’ve always noticed that as a rule you don’t hear much about white nfl players getting into trouble.
Hmm............must be an anomaly.
Also, Jason Whitlock and Bob Costas can have my weapon(s). All they have to do is come get ‘em.
Costas was only doing what he was told to do by his boss, OBAMA. This apology AFTER making the statement before 30 or 40 million “captured” viewers is BS. He apologized here and back’s up his statement there....it’s never the apology, it’s the place of the initial statement. Costas is a s***head libtard, who like his hero,Obama, craves the attention. NBC will always make political statements when it serves them, to think Costas did this all on his own is pure BS.
Hey Bob...
you’re trying to tread the tightrope here.
Let me state what you’re afraid to state -
it’s the inner city urban hip hop culture that has a problem with violence, especially gun violence.
It’s not “the gun culture”, which most people would associate with NRA card carrying Billy Bob.
If young men really are so untrustworthy don’t we need something with which to defend ourselves against them? Oh, I don’t know, say a gun?
Yeah, he was the lead segment on BOR yesterday. Given an out by BOR he took it then under additional questioning jumped the shark anyway. His comment about not allowing full automatic firearms and bazookas sent me over the top. BOR did not ask him where one could walk in a buy such weaponry unfortunately.
These guys are the princes of smart only because someone was dumb enough to put a microphone in their faces. Once you note they look good, dress and speak well; you quickly feel you have said it all.
He appears to have mastered the first rule of a-holes however...
costas would rather have us all singing, “We are Virginia Tech,” AFTER 20 or 30 citizens have been massacred.
Boat load of irresponsible 20 somethings landing at Normandy.
Another Bob Costas example of violent gun culture.
I first bought a firearm at age 28, and haven't even had a ND, let alone shot anyone. I have shot full autos and never once got any urge to shoot anyone. Oh, and the only reason that I didn't have one sooner was a lack of funds.
I think that this applies to Costas: "The fear of weapons is a sign of retarded sexual and emotional maturity." -- Sigmund Freud
Costas benefits from the arming of guards for his and his company's protection. However, according to Bob, that just instigates and escalates any incidents into a violent gun assault. Costas told O'Reilly that he would not have wanted to have a gun during the Aurora Colorado movie theater attack as that would've caused more mayhem.
Bob Costas, a true Beta Male.
