CHICAGO ANTI-GUN POL’S ARREST SHOWS TRUE GUN CONTROL HYPOCRISY, SAYS CCRKBA(IL)

BELLEVUE, WA – Today’s arrest of Illinois State Sen. Donne Trotter by authorities at O’Hare International Airport for having a gun in his carry-on bag is a revealing look at the hypocrisy of anti-gunners, the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms said.

According to the Chicago Sun-Times, Trotter was arrested at a security checkpoint early this morning. A candidate for the 2nd Congressional District seat vacated recently by Rep. Jesse Jackson, Jr., Trotter had a .25-caliber Beretta semiautomatic pistol in his bag. The Chicago Tribune said Trotter told police he worked late last night as a security guard and didn’t realize the pistol was in his bag.

“Trotter is a South Side Democrat and he was a leader in the move to ban so-called ‘assault weapons’ during his first term as a state representative,” noted CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb. “A man who favored banning firearms for thousands of his fellow Illinois residents shouldn’t even have a gun, much less be packing one illegally into an airport.”

Trotter has reportedly been charged with one count of attempting to board an airplane with a weapon, which is a Class 4 felony.

“Senator Trotter, by his own action, has demonstrated the monumental hypocrisy of gun control advocates who try to disarm average citizens while reserving the right to bear arms for themselves alone,” Gottlieb observed. “He should not even be serving in the state legislature, much less be running for a seat in Congress, which already has its share of gun prohibition hypocrites.

“Today’s incident underscores just how pathetic the anti-gun philosophy has gotten,” he concluded. “Perhaps now he will realize how other citizens feel when they run afoul of some anti-gun law or regulation. He should apologize to every gun owner in Illinois.”

My money says it is a "no-show" job for some under the table $$$ and to facilitate a carry lisence. Were the pistol a true "tool of his trade", he would NOT have forgotten where he put it.

I can tell you what happened to me when I forgot a speedloader full of 44 spl HP in my carry on. I had been visiting my daughter and received a call that my father was near death in FL. I rushed home, hastily repacked and booked a flight the next morning completely forgetting to remove the re-load. There was some commotion going through security as my bag was taken for special search. I had no idea that it was anything other than routine. Then there were codes called, requests for supervisors etc. Security reaches into my bag and pulls out the loader and I had the OH S*** moment. Figured I was next in line for a body cavity search and trip to jail. Once I explained the situation they were actually extremely polite and understanding. They said it happens frequently. I had to fill out a document explaining what happened, they confiscated the loader and rounds. I convinced them to return the loader to me when I got back (they wouldn’t return the cartridges), and they let me go. Surprized the heck out of me that it was no big deal.

Would you like him to be able to claim “it’s just a mistake”?

Yes. The purpose of the airport law is to prevent hijackings, not to put innocent people in jail.

If the person can legally possess the gun outside the airport, and can show that a mistake was made, have them pay a small fine, say $200 dollars. It would be enough for them to learn a lesson, but would not destroy their lives.

This is a DANGEROUS weapon people! It is an "Assault" Semiautomatic pistol!!!

It is designed to be concealed! What are these gun lovers trying to hide?! Aha! Sounds suspicious, doesn't it?! This type of Assault weapon can carry up to <8>seven rounds of deadly ammunition!

Oh, and don't give me that "hunting" thingy either! What duck hunter needs one of the high capacity Assault pistols anyway? Hmmmmmm? Oh, and these deadly pistols can load either the horrific hollow-point ammunition designed for maximum carnage, or the solid "Cop Killer" bullets!

NO ONE should be allowed to own these types of deadly Assault Cop Killer Concealed weapons of mass destruction, except law enforcement and the military!!! And speaking of the military, they should not be trusted with these weapons when they are retired....because......well.........just BECAUSE....all right!

Sen Schumer is right. These veteran who endured multiple deployments, injuries, sacrifices, and have demonstrated extreme loyalty to the United States through their service should NEVER be allowed to own any of these deadly firearms.

Just how do you show a mistake was made since it’s a frame of mind?

Maybe we could use the same standards that are used for “HATE” crimes.

Left winger - you love everyone - no crime

Muslim - religion of peace - no crime

Minority - you can’t hate anyone - no crime

Care to take a guess who would end up having to “prove” it was just a mistake?

I was thinking similarly... anybody who uses a .25ACP for “security guard” work is a fool.

As a casual collector, I have always been fond of small semi autos and have a few. The Beretta 950 Jetfire is a sweet little example of the gun maker’s art.

That said, I don’t expect something under a .380 to be a self defense option. If you have the proper outer wear on for concealment, a 9 mm or larger is even better.

An educated guess would be he works at a site that prohibits armed guards. A .25 couuld fit nicely and unobtrusively in a pocket.

That's if his alibi wasn't a lie.

I know of no state regulations on armed *private* security which even allow for concealed carry, or backup carry in any caliber.

State regulations for armed private security in most states has been uniformly tight throughout the last half century or better, and private security companies, if they wish to continue in business, adhere to them, to the letter, and always have, if they are a reputable company.

While I admit that it is *possible* in states which have changed more restrictive laws on private citizen carrying of weapons, I consider that changing laws regarding regulation of armed private security to be less likely...
