I just heard this statistic on O'Reilly, and found a discussion about it from July on another website. Check it out.

Absolutely astounding!

Anyone with their eyes and ears open for the past thirty years knew this was true.

We all have family members or friends who were single parents, receiving assistance for medical care, rent, utilities, babysitter, free college, a monthly check to supplement a job (with ureported tips).

Anyone with half a brain can see where working for any amount over what it takes to qualify for all this “assistance” would seem foolish. Only very strong principled people wanting to provide for themselves would turn this down.

I posted a link supporting the first O’Reilly segment. I thought it was a topic worth discussing. About a month ago, there was a study posting that the government spends 60k for every household in poverty. Now, this statistic is revealed, showing how ridiculous the entitlement state has gotten. No wonder, the number of food stamp recipients increased as the unemployment went down.

I’m new here and didn’t realize there were specific minimum post guidelines. I thought the topic was worth discussing, but it can be removed if deemed otherwise.

She is depending on the benefits she receives and how much they pay in these benefits.

That’s not what I am saying. It’s like salesman or used to be. They were paid a certain salary with benefits such as a car, expense account, health insurance, stock plan; etc. Sometimes bonuses or commissions. Those things add up. If you are good; you deserve a good lifestyle.

Of course, now instead of being rewarded for doing a good job; the government pays them and to add insult with our taxpayer money and no incentive to do a good job.

In other words, you use to really earn those things; but not anymore.
