Pilot ejected several HUNDRED miles from land, it's amazing we got him back.
I know this story came out 2 weeks ago, but I got busy and didn't post. The mishap actually occurred in July but the story couldn't be released until now, so what's another 2 weeks anyway?

Got bless the men that fly and fight, and those that sail the sea.

Wonderful story with an excellent ending. A lot of expense borne by many, and primarily by Matson, but saving that pilot’s life is worth every penny.

While working an air exercise over the Nellis AFB range, I think my ears popped on the pucker-factor when an Emergency Locator Transmitter (ELT) went off in the middle of a 4V4 “fur ball” (4V4 - four aircraft attacking, 4 aircraft defending). By the time radar control got everyone separated and into neutral corners, they found out that one of the aircraft had a malfunction and the alarm was in error. The radio chatter was quite amusing as they directed the pilot back to base.

"Our commitment was not to let him down." Good thing that he wasn't assigned to an embassy in the Middle East!

Glad that FEMA wasn’t involved.
