The loudest advocates of gun control are well protected. President Obama said he wants more laws restricting firearms ownership because, in his hometown of Chicago, “there’s an awful lot of violence, and they’re not using AK-47s, they’re using cheap handguns.” With his own armed Secret Service detail, the president doesn’t need to worry about crime.
Illinois State Sen. Donne Trotter takes the hypocrisy up a notch. On Wednesday, Mr. Trotter was arrested on felony charges after attempting to board a plane at O'Hare International Airport with a loaded .25-caliber Beretta. The South Side Democrat, who has been the leading candidate to fill the congressional seat vacated by scandal-plagued Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr., claimed that he forgot to take the gun out of his garment bag after working his security job. Illinois is the only state in the union that denies citizens all rights to bear arms, but Mr. Trotter got himself an exception — a special permit to pack heat to and from his side gig.
Since he was first elected in 1988, Mr. Trotter has voted against legislation that would grant other Illinois citizens the right to concealed carry. He also voted “present” on a bill that would have reduced the penalty on carrying a concealed weapon. In his official biography, he describes himself as “an advocate of gun control” who “ushered in Illinois’ first comprehensive law banning assault weapons.”
“This is the kind of hypocrisy that fuels the mistrust of politicians by gun owners,” Second Amendment Foundation founder Alan Gottlieb told The Washington Times.

Chicago is the biggest city in the only state that doesn’t allow concealed carry. Now, because their stats are the worst, it is the fault of someone other than themselves.

For corroboration about Atlantic Slope attitudes toward the Midwest and West and Old American values, metasearch up "Commentary" +"Sarah Palin", and then Google up "David Frum" + "Sarah Palin" or "Commentary". Commentary ran a revealing article back in 2010 about Blue State revulsion against everything Flyover America, personified and intensified in Sarah Palin, represents.
David Frum added comments on his blog, and then www.jewschool.com commented on both Frum and the original article. The commentaries are good, but the reader comments (do read) are priceless.

The gun wasn't loaded. The magazine did have 5 rounds in it but it wasn't in the gun and no round was in the chamber. This 'almost complies' with our STOO-PID™ Laws. The problem is the loaded magazine, that's a no-no. Otherwise it basically complies with transporting a weapon and its ammo and any lawyer would beat this charge.
I have no idea of what that's supposed to mean. I have more than enough firearms, and I can use them. Eev to protect property and I don't have to retreat.

No he didn't. And there's no 'special permit' for anyone. What he had was a job for a security company licensed to have armed security guards. And he apparently went through the training (I guess -LOL) and passed the qualification test to be an Armed Guard (ok stop laughing). But anyone can transport their firearm(s) to 'their job' (like at a Gun Shop) or to anywhere - just not loaded and ammo separate.
We do not have any Assault Weapon Ban -- period. So I don't know where this came from. (either he was drunk ;-) or the source was wrong.
The boyz in da hoodz fave handgun is the 'Glock 40' - as in Glock .40cal S&W (don't know that model number sorry). But a S&W .40cal is okay too, or any expensive handgun in .40cal S&W. The days of 'cheap handguns' is looong gone. The fricken 16yo gang-bangers make more in a week than a union plumber. (YouTube Vids can be found of these mutts waving those pretty guns and wads of cash around)
