Is this a joke?

How do DC officials control where the FBI is headquartered?

Perhaps someone here can fill in the blanks. I came across an article on Yahoo Sports which was as perplexing.

These pols sure are a different breed.

This ‘proposal’ sounds like something a bunch of drunks sitting around a bar would come up with.

Or reminiscent of the Mickey Rooney/Judy Garland movies of the 40’s....”OH I know what to do!! We can put on a show”.

If there is no more work for these fools to do other than hair brained schemes like this and worrying about Barry Bonds or other such NON POLITICAL foolishness, maybe they should all just be FIRED!.

Here’s the deal....because the media isn’t going to explain the whole bit and pieces.

First, Prince George’s county in Maryland wants tax payer revenue...so if you could entice the FBI to move their headquarters out to the end of Prince George’s county...then most of the $75k to $120k employees would be living around the Prince George’s county area. More property value, more construction, more personal income taxes, more sales tax, more gas tax.

Second, the stadium is a money-maker for the Prince George’s county folks but it won’t attracts folks for roughly eight Sundays in a year. So it’s not a huge money maker. Hotels? Some folks prefer to stay over in Arlington and Alexandria...so Prince George’s county doesn’t make the profit.

Third, the DC crowd would love to build another stadium over near the Nationals ballpark. To be honest, they’ve reserved space (not the city, but land and property developers). It would make perfect sense to put another huge stadium up. But even better...there’s Anacosta Park across the river, with interstate access with hundreds of feet. The city could quickly rig up a deal to swap the Park for other property and make everyone happy.

What’s all this have to do with the FBI? Nothing. The FBI wants real estate over in Virginia and has already made that clear. They’d prefer to sign a long-term lease for the major operations center and maybe buy something next to it to buy a fancy headquarters building. Access to the interstate and Metro is their priority.

So this is all a game that Maryland, DC and Virginia power-player are playing. The DC crowd is angry over losing the training camp area to Richmond, and Maryland is ready to admit that the football stadium they have....isn’t much of a money-maker.

Mr. Snyder has been wanting this for years. Put no blackouts and no taxpayer money on the deal. If they are gonna create more congestion, at least be able to watch it locally.

Not very many six-figure FBI employees are going to live in PG county, for obvious reasons.

Public funded stadiums are always a stupid idea. Always.

Why are FBI employees making 6 figures??

Agreed. Professional teams rarely yield that much money for the cities that subsidize them. They’re a nice attraction to have, but not really the cash cow that many believe them to be.

Yeah, next they will have TOPs playing cards with Agency employment stats with projected amounts of sales and property tax returns. I’ll trade you one EPA headquarters for one Social Security Administration HQ...something like that.

I think Prince Georges County would be the winner in the proposed deal and any FBI employee who wants his/her family members to go to a good school and live in a safe neighborhood would be the loser.

I think we have enough bananas running our government right now, not to mention they compose about half the electorate.
:-D
