Taxes will rise on all Americans in 23 days without bipartisan Congressional intervention. But President Obama and House Republicans are showing little sign of breaking the frosty standoff over the fiscal cliff. Both sides remain at loggerheads over what to do about tax rates for the top two percent of income-earners and the nations debt limit.
In his weekly address, Obama says he wants an immediate resolution, but only if Republicans agree to raise the top tax rates on individuals earning $200,000 or more. If were serious about reducing our deficit while still investing in things like education and research that are important to growing our economy and if were serious about protecting middle-class families then were also going to have to ask the wealthiest Americans to pay higher tax rates, he says. Thats one principle I wont compromise on.
After all, this was a central question in the election, Obama adds, alluding to the fact that he won.

Only a true idiot (or a liar) would define “wealth” as someone’s annual income. Wealth is not measured by “income,” but by what you acutally hold. A income tax increase on those who make $250K or more will hit a lot more middle class professionals, a lot harder, than it will ever hit the “rich.”
Yes, the words need to change.
Something like "High Earners" "Medium Earners".
He's not talking about the rich that his minions are thinking about: 'wealth' or the wealthy - they don't technically(tax-wise)earn...they dividend.
"Government is instituted to protect property of every sort....This being the end of government, that is NOT a just government,...nor is property secure under it, where the property which a man has...is violated by arbitrary seizures of one class of citizens for the service of the rest." - James Madison"The moment the idea is admitted into society that property is not as sacred as the laws of God...anarchy and tyranny commence. PROPERTY MUST BE SECURED OR LIBERTY CANNOT EXIST." - John Adams
"The first grand right is that of the people having a share in their own government by their representatives chosen by themselves, and...of being ruled by laws which they themselves approve....This is a bulwark surrounding and defining their property, which by their...labours they have acquired, so that no portions of it can be legally taken away from them but with their full and free consent." - Adopted by the Continental Congress-1774
"Where an excess of power prevails, property of no sort is duly respected. No man is safe in his opinions, his person, his faculties, or his possessions." - James Madison-1792
"A right to property is founded in our natural wants, in the means with which we are endowed to satisfy these wants, and the right to what we acquire by those means without violating the similar rights of other sensible beings." - Thomas Jefferson-1816
"That a People should be taxed at the Will of another, whether of one Man or many, without their own Consent in Person or by Representative, is rank Slavery. For if their Superior sees fit, they may be deprived of their whole Property, upon any frivolous Pretext, or without any Pretext at all. And a People without Property, or in the precarious Possession of it, are in no better State than Slaves; for Liberty, or even Life itself, without the Enjoyment of them flowing from Property, are of no Value." - Boston Gazette-1765
"Property is the fruit of labor. Property is desirable, is a positive good in the world. That some should be rich shows that others may become rich and hence is just encouragement to industry and enterprise. Let not him who is houseless pull down the house of another, but let him work diligently to build one for himself, thus by example assuring that his own shall be safe from violence....I take it that it is best for all to leave each man free to acquire property as fast as he can. Some will get wealthy. I don't believe in a law to prevent a man from getting rich; it would do more harm than good." - Abraham Lincoln
"No man would become a member of a community in which he could not enjoy the fruits of his honest labor and industry. The preservation of property, then, is a primary object of the social compact....The legislature, therefore, had no authority to make an act divesting one citizen of his freehold, and vesting it in another, without a just compensation. It is inconsistent with the principles of reason, justice, and moral rectitude; it is incompatible with the comfort, peace and happiness of mankind; it is contrary to the principles of social alliance in every free government; and lastly, it is contrary to the letter and spirit of the Constitution. - "Supreme Court-1795
Where is Bob Lee Swagger when you need him?
According to our asshat president, Adams was just a rich white guy trying to protect his lot in life.
I am beyond being amused by this clown and his party. Time for REV I, revisited....since they seem to believe we don’t have a Republic, not a democracy, it is time to move along the first Rev which was against a monarch who was also a despot as much as is mob rule.
Obamugabe: the King of Suck.
Fine.
If he won't compromise why should we?
This tax on the "rich" is a sop to the stupid. It's about jealousy and envy and mostly its about
RETRIBUTION!
Listen to Rev Jackass Wright sometime and you'll know what I'm talking about.
That is such a good idea that you can be sure that the GOP will not do it.
Obama is all about Class-Warfare. His whole adult life has been directed at undermining traditional American values. To humor or dignify such a man is absolutely beneath decent Americans.
But in hanging tough, House Conservatives need to reiterate a combination of talking points; never let themselves be interviewed without starting by clarifying their position against Obama's Class-Warfare attitude on Taxation:
1. Class-Warfare is immoral & unamerican.
2. A tax system that punishes success to reward failure is economically insane.
3. The Founding Fathers considered the use of taxation to redistribute wealth to be totally unacceptable (Art. I, Sec. 9). Having sworn to uphold the Constitution, one cannot vote for redistribution of wealth.
4. During the 124 years, from 1789 til 1913, when we followed the Founder's Taxing policy, we had the greatest material growth rate of any people on earth--and we retained our spiritual values in the process. Nothing, proportionately, or adjusted for inflation, has since compared! (And just look at what the class-warfare mentality has done to our spiritual values!)
Do not let anyone put Obama's definitions into anyone on our side's mouth. Obama has never been about "fairness," anymore than Lenin, Trotsky, Stalin, Hitler or Castro were ever about "fairness."
William Flax
“I won’t compromise on tax hikes on the rich.” - Obama
Who asked him to? This is all theater for the Democrat base. Just come out and start yammering about how Obama is hurting the poor. Turnabout is fair play.
R = Responsible, Reliable
I = Intelligent, Innovative
C = Creative, Caring
H = Honorable
Feel free to add-on.
Can we call him a Communist yet?
” If were serious about reducing our deficit while still investing in things like education and research that are important to growing our economy and if were serious about protecting middle-class families then were also going to have to ask the wealthiest Americans to pay higher tax rates,
Because as we all know, taxing and spending is the key to prosperity
I think this man has an irrational hatred of “rich” people; deep, deep hatred. Looks like he’s getting back at some rich person that once snubbed him.
“Looks like hes getting back at some rich person that once snubbed him.”
He’s getting back at his reasonably affluent grandmother who tried to raise him to be a man.
nobama is one disturbed fellow.
We should start playing the ‘Al Sharpton Card’ and post everywhere, ‘Rich is a code word for Jews’ and equate Obama to Hitler.
