ATLANTA —

A 77-year-old grandmother says she used a gun to protect her home from a burglar.

Rita James told Channel 2’s Amanda Cook that a man tossed a brick through the bedroom window of her northwest Atlanta home Wednesday afternoon.

James said the man tried to crawl through her window.

“He got to cleaning the glass out of the window as much as he could,” James said.

“Due to the higher cost of ammunition, there will be no warning shot. Thank you for your understanding.”

I can’t help wondering, just where did those two bullets end up?
Weapon in photo appears to be a 38 spec. or larger, so those two bullets could have ended up inside a neighbors house or worse.
Just a thought.

Good for her. However, Piers Morgan would not approve.

At age 77 with, apparently, a granddaughter to take care of, I doubt she will have time—and probably not money—and maybe no near by range to get that practice she needs.

Luckily, her shot did not hit anyone.....but she may not be that lucky again. She did save herself from harm this time, though.

Atlanta police told James she did the right thing by protecting herself.

Huh? You often here this from rural police departments or county sheriffs, but are some of the big-city departments starting to get it?

Smart woman. She followed Tuco’s rule.

Always a possibility, but if they had, I'm sure the story would have mentioned it and been an avenue for the rabid anti-gun sector. If you're really worried about it, jump on the anti-gun bandwagon - there is almost never a sure-fire protection from collateral damage when a citizen uses a gun to defend himself - just ask the cops who hit the wrong "targets" when using their guns.

Son,
I was shooting and carrying weapons on the job when you were shitting in your diapers or before that even. So do not attempt to preach or condescend to me.

How do you know that? You have no idea of when I was born or when I stopped shitting my diapers, much less of when I started shooting. You have to be way up there old timer - besides, old age doesn't equate to smarts or common sense. Tell me where I was wrong and where you have been designated as the high-horse rider and I'll apologize and recant. I'll even trust what you say your birthdate is without benefit of seeing your birth certificate.

Here's my thought: If I have to unload on an intruder, the neighbors will just have to be lucky.
