Michigan unions say no right to work

TAMPA, December 10, 2012 – Lansing, Michigan is bracing for an onslaught of protestors following Republican Governor Rick Snyder’s indication that he would sign “Right to Work” legislation currently making its way through the state legislature. President Obama and Harry Reid have both joined Michigan Democrats in denouncing the bill.

As usual, both liberals and conservatives are already demonstrating their skewed perception of reality in weighing in on this debate. President Obama told workers at an engine plant outside Detroit that “what we shouldn't be doing is trying to take away your rights to bargain for better wages,” as if the law would do any such thing.

However, Harry Reid surpassed all in obtuseness when he called the legislation a “blatant attempt by Michigan Republicans to assault the collective bargaining process and undermine the standard of living it has helped foster."

If this poll is correct some 40% of union members like right to work.

Mitchell poll: Michigan voters favor right-to-work, 51-41

By union household: A strong majority (56 percent) of non-union households support right-to-work. Support among union households is only at 40 percent

Yes, because unions and their thuggish ways have been such a great thing for Detroit.

Oh wait, Detroit is a freakin wasteland. Nevermind.

What “standard of living?” Harry needs to visit Detroit (and a lot of other RAT-run cities) to see the “real” standard of living there. And he can take some “bacon” to JoAnn Watson (who looks like she’s already eaten a hog or two).

Being that Dingy Harry is insane, right to work laws have to be good for all. LOL!

BTW Harry, the same goes to you from the Michigan GOP.

Michigan Republican Party chairman Bobby Schostak issued the following statement in response to President Obama’s visit to Michigan today:

“It’s interesting that President Obama has chosen to stop in Michigan to propose his economic recovery plan of higher taxes, more spending and broken budgets. Here in Michigan we’ve seen actual economic recovery by streamlining government, cutting taxes and balancing budgets.

“The President’s divisive message and attack on Michigan workers is just another indication of how out of touch Pres. Obama has become. President Obama’s continued attempt to subvert state rights is an assult on our federal system.

“I encourage the former law professor and our current President brush up on the Tenth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, ‘The powers not delegated to the United states by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.’

“The President’s stance is a blatant attack on Michigan workers and demonstrates the President’s staunch support of special interest union bosses. Thankfully, Michigan Republican leaders are here to provide a firewall for Michigan workers and their families and to keep Michigan’s turnaround on course.”

If there is no right to work, does that mean there is no right to unemployment checks from the government?

You’ve got that right.

It’s unbelievable that the Senate majority leader would stick his nose into something like this or the president for that matter.

This is a states rights matter...Period.

About 20 years ago, the capitol was renovated for the 21st century to the tune of $50,000,000. It was historically restored and ready for computers. I hope it doesn’t get trashed by the protesters like they did in Wisconsin.
