Scientists May Have Finally Unlocked Puzzle of Why People Are Gay
usnews ^ | 12-11-2012 | Jason Koebler

Scientists may have finally solved the puzzle of what makes a person gay, and how it is passed from parents to their children.

A group of scientists suggested Tuesday that homosexuals get that trait from their opposite-sex parents: A lesbian will almost always get the trait from her father, while a gay man will get the trait from his mother.

So in order to prevent further gay people being produced, we should just take children away from their parents and let the state raise them...unless it’s a really gay state.

then this fag article is a waste of time then? I don’t need an explanation why degenerates are degenerates.

“Evolutionarily speaking, if homosexuality was solely a genetic trait, scientists would expect the trait to eventually disappear because homosexuals wouldn’t be expected to reproduce.”

How about stupidity? Oh well, I guess the last election demonstrates it doesn’t interfer with reproduction.

“The results, published online this month in the Archives of Sexual Behavior, confirm earlier findings that identical twins are more concordant for same-sex behaviors than fraternal twins are but only modestly so: In men, genetic effects appeared to explain 34% to 39% of the differences between the two twin groups, whereas in women, genetics accounted for only about 18% to 19% of the difference—a finding consistent with other research showing that sexual orientation in women is not as rigidly determined as it is in men.”

http://news.sciencemag.org/sciencenow/2008/06/30-01.html

So, the other 61-66% of gay twins seem to have picked up homosexuality by some other method, like RECRUITMENT.

I don’t doubt that some people are born gay, and that some are also recruited. Gay mens’ predilection for youth is well known since the Greeks at least.

So fathers who love their wives will pass along their love of women to their daughters while mothers who love their husbands pass along their love of men to their sons?

GTFO! Homosexuality is a LEARNED behavior. It’s not natural. From a purely animal standpoint, the propagation of the species does not exist between same-sex couples. Humans along with primates and dolphins have sex for both procreation and pleasure. This is purely about “pleasure” for hedonists and sickos who had bad childhoods or were otherwise raised improperly.

If it turns out that they do legitimately find a “gay gene,” it will be an aberration in the human genome much like balding, red hair, or left-handedness, IMO.

How about a person with low self esteem gravitates towards an area where he/she feel they could excel. For a boy, he would be weak and would gravitate towards girl things for acceptance. For a girl, she would be strong and would gravitate towards boy things for acceptance.

As they get older the traits they developed take hold. For a boy, he spent so much time around girls that he also wants to date a boy. For a girl, same thing. She has developed traits that are male and would want to date girls.

Inevitably, they gain self confidence and for them being gay seems normal.

No government grant, no research study, just an opinion which probably makes more sense and cost a lot less.

So, they are saying they have a “gay” gene?

I know the homosexual lobby has been chasing this for a while, because in their world, it means you are not responsible for your sexual orientation any more than you are responsible for the pigmentation in your skin.

Which, to them, means they cannot be judged on it because they are the same as someone born with a genetic handicap or various skin colors.

They are trying to extend this to many facets of life, including (or especially) crime. You aren’t responsible. It is in your genes.

I wonder what the position will be on abortion when and if there is ever a genetic prenatal screen for homosexuality?

Suddenly the unborn WILL have rights? It will be unlawful to “discriminate” against the unborn homosexual via screening and abortion?

For myself I don't know if the cause is genetic, epigenetic, or environmental - but I know that for myself I had no choice in the matter - at 14 I was irrevocably and unquestionably and unceasingly attracted to women. I couldn't have “chosen” to be gay. It wasn't one of the options on my multiple choice test of sexual attraction.

If indeed those “epi marks” can be tested for - as was hinted at in the article, then we can watch the change in liberal attitudes towards abortion.

After all, what might many parents do when told their progeny could be gay?

And - after all - that would no longer be considered a valid choice, would it?

Quote:

The hereditary link of homosexuality has long been established

Followed by:

Long thought to have some sort of hereditary link

The science is bogus.

"There is compelling evidence that epi-marks contribute to both the similarity and dissimilarity of family members, and can therefore feasibly contribute to the observed familial inheritance of homosexuality and its low concordance between [identical] twins," Rice notes.

There's compelling evidence of a contribution of these epi-marks somehow that we don't understand so it's feasible that it causes my pre-determined outcome.

Thanks for playing.

If true, and one study proves little at best. Expect an up tick in per-natal testing and a swictch to a prolife stance by many on the pro-gay side of the politcal spectra.

As a truly odd side effect you may see opposite sex gay couples being tested to provide the highest possible chance of a gay child.

And if they figure out how to make sure the epi-mark IS erased, will the gay “community” allow people to use it the treatment or will they try to outlaw it?

Will they compare it to genocide since it could put an end to homosexuality?

We are born into sin, all defects, physical and mental, are linked to genetics, duh! We live in a unperfect world, and their point is? Still doesn’t justify it for me. It’s still a sin that people need to be freed from. Genetic or not.

Yep, if this Epimarks hypothesis is correct then it will be possible to have a test for it, like the current test for Down's syndrome.

And if it comes up positive, well then a parent can choose to abort their child because it's a Homo.

The abortion debate will then get very interesting

What will the Catholic church say about it? If we can mess with the genes we can eliminate homosexuality BUT isn’t this 10X worse then using contraceptives interms of interfering with God’s work?

Lots of fascinating discussions would come out of this discovery.

I know absolutely nothing about “epi-marks,” but at this link, I found the following:
The epigenetic code is hypothesized to be the combined effects of histone modifications and DNA methylation on gene expression. While the genetic code in an individual is the same in every cell, the epigenetic code can be tissue- and cell-specific and may change over time because of aging, disease or environmental stimuli (e.g., nutrition, life style, toxin exposure).
Soooo, doesn’t that mean there might be a cure?

Not all defects, but many, are genetically induced. We are slaves of sin and need to be saved. That’s why life is so difficult, you can’t force yourself to be good, you need to be saved from the fact that we are born into sin, via genetics.
