Probably a "War Trophy".

The Federal Government will assure that the future of this rare collector's piece will become dire. I'd actually prefer that this original "assault" rifle get collected by police and displayed at Connecticut's Crime Laboratory collection. (Sturmgewehr 44s are that rare).

It it was not registered in 1986, it can never be added to the national firearms regestry and therefore can never be legally owned. It is destined for a BATFE collection somewhere, with no compensation.

Wow! A nice clean looking piece...Have a son-in-law who has one (and ammo) from his Dad that is a solid piece of rust...Always asking me to try to clean / restore it...Not much chance...I have a hard enough time keeping up with cleaning my own inventory...
