Gov. Pat Quinn on Wednesday indicated he would like to see assault weapons banned in Illinois as lawmakers this spring revise state law to allow some form of concealed carry to comply with a court ruling that tossed aside a long-standing ban on allowing people to carry weapons.
Meanwhile, at City Hall, Mayor Rahm Emanuel blasted Tuesday's federal appellate court decision as "wrongheaded" as he offered legal help to Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan as she weighs an appeal.
Judges gave the General Assembly six months to make changes, and the Democratic governor suggested the new rules will have to restrict who can get a permit to carry a gun.

Wrong headed? Emmanual needs to look in the mirror. Just goes to show you can’t fix stupid.
Is Quinn going to define assault weapons? Some like he would include knives.
what do assault weapons have to do with concealed carry? “Ok, we lost so let’s change the subject?”
(does this post REALLY need a humor tag?)
Rahms head is in the wrong place.
It should be on a pike.
yes rahms head is in the wrong place and boy is it dark there
Too bad, we can’t “like” posts. I’d give yours a thumbs up.
Yes, because this new ruling will upset all that tranquility in Chicago.
You want leather, kydex, or ‘cur bolli?’
The true definition of an assault weapon is any object used to harm another person. A stick, knife, folding chair or a bazooka. The liberals define an assault weapon as all those scary looking black guns. I guess they can’t figure it out that the gun does no harm, it is the shiny bullet going three thousand feet per second that does the damage regardless of what barrel it comes out of..
“Gov. Pat Quinn on Wednesday indicated he would like to see assault weapons banned in Illinois”
Assault is a behavior, not a device.
Tyrants always attempt to control the language to assist in controlling the populace.
Those leades adamantly against weapons possession by upstanding citizens all too often have ulterior reasons for doing so. The judge who approved my first carry permit and stamped it “sporting use only” (as he did 99.9% of approvals, to wit you can own one but not carry it in public) left the bench under highly suspicious circumstances involving rumors of cocaine trafficking.
My guess is, this ruling will open the doors for Chicago to surpass 300 murders a year.
Rahm Emanuel clearly feels he knows what’s good for you better than you know, yourself.
It’s part and parcel of the fascist mentality.
Just another example of how liberals love THEIR guns but not yours. Their society would be well armed but only for a select few. The rest of you Bitter Clingers are on your own.
I have an alternative recipe for cur-bolli that I found. Use alcohol to dilute shellac and soak the leather in the mixture. press into desired shape and allow to dry at room temp.
Apparently the shellac soaks into the leather and treats the leather so that it is not only water resistant but lasts longer than cur-bolli.
Give it a try an tell me what you think.
I tend to think of that as starting around 50BMG, but it sounds like Quinn & Co would have the definition start near supersonic 22LR rounds.
Good comments from Chicago Police Officers:
” The mayor portrayed the justices as out of touch and urged them to come down from their ivory tower and experience the terror that Chicagoans feel in neighborhoods held hostage by gangs.
“This from an asshole who lives surrounded by men with guns. An out-of-touch dilettante who made millions collecting a crooked paycheck for what was essentially a “no-show” job. A “man” so paranoid that he freaked out and removed members of his security staff over a bag of tomatoes left on his front stoop. This asshat is going to tell judges to experience the “terror” Chicagoans feel in their neighborhoods....”
They need to get their minds right and put a bounty on gang members.
Just relabel them as murderous desperadoes, armed and dangerous, wanted dead or alive and shoot them.
They have mugshots of them, turn them into posters.
Bedwetting hypocrite Rahm whines over civil rights decision
Wetting his bed apparently makes Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel was particularly irritable the following day.
On Wednesday, the day after the U.S. Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals ordered Illinois politicians to pass into law, within 180 days, a remedy Illinois current status denying its residents the right to carry firearms outside the home, Mayor Rahm Emanuel lashed out at the court.
The bedwetting Rahm Emanuel put his hypocrisy on display for all to see, whining up a storm after the appellate court decision:

This sounds interesting. Does the alcohol need to be natural (’white dog’ or plain grain), is there a preferred type of shellac.
I bet the product of this process shrinks less than boiling, and the skin side takes on a nice patina.
Thanks for the boost!!!
I the recipe is not specific about the alcohol of choice. I obtained mine from the hardware store when I picked up the shellac. I don’t remember the name or brand only that it came in a blue rectangle can. I got it near the mineral spirits section. I do know that the shellac should be all natural. Some shellacs come with additives such as wax or urethane - don’t get those.
There is almost no shrinkage. There might be some but was not noticeable to my eye. You can also experiment with different soak times and alcohol to shellac mixtures. I was using mine to harden leather “plates” for lamelar armor. Some mixtures were stiff leather consistency others were more like kydex plastic hardness. With the harder mixes I do remember that I did add some leather dye to change the color a tad. That might also play into the hardness.
This story is not being reported very well. The current law in Illinois is completely non-2nd amendment compliant as it outlaws any carrying of weapons, not just concealed carry.
I hear and see some politicians and journalists expand upon the theory that writers of the Constitution did not see a future where guns were as they are today. Their idea is that because modern firearms are capable of firing multiple rounds at speed that they should be banned. Somehow this is making them a threat to a decent society by allowing them into the hands of the “common people”! It is really a argument by those that want to CONTROL.
These same persons may some day even have ideas that they need to control even what we eat and drink.
My thoughts are if we can assume the Framers of the Constitution didn’t foresee the improvement in firearms they also may have missed the advancement of the written word and freedom of the press! We have witnessed the damage a Free Press can rain on a society. Maybe we should make the “Press” go back to quill pens and give up computers and ‘Cable news”.
I will be trying this on holsters and sheaths. I really like the near kydex feel of the boiled leather. I have some scrap stock to try it on first. At least, commercially, I’ve found black dyed leather gets soft faster than brown (belts and shoes primarily). It is possible your dye experience was enhanced by the alcohol/shellac mixture.
I have a legal shotgun that was built without a butt stock. It has a swivel butt plate on the end of the receiver. It has provisions for attaching a flashlight. It’s the perfect setup for shooting “skeet” at night. You might want to consider night time skeet shooting. You never know when a sporting opportunity might present itself.
Unfortunately they are likely multiple voters for the 'rat party.
Florida nears 1 million permits for concealed weapons
Posted on December 12, 2012 by Miguel
The number of active concealed weapons licenses in Florida, already home to more owners of such registered weapons than any other U.S. state, is expected to reach the 1 million mark next week, a state official said on Wednesday.

Where does one acquire frangible day-glo flying saucers?
Most “skeets” I’ve seen at night don’t wear day glo clothing.
Leather of course!
LOL, yes the armor was for SCA fighting. The armor worked well but I should have used a lighter oz leather. Some of the plates are thick and the overall lamellar weight is a tad heavier than I wanted. However it does stand up to abuse rather well. I think my next set will be a coat of plates configured with the thinner more kydex hard plates.
I’ve never described Rahm as being in danger of scalp sunburn...
