Embattled U.N. envoy Susan Rice is dropping out of the running to be the next secretary of state after months of criticism over her Benghazi comments, she told NBC News on Thursday.

Deval has already said that he will sign a change in the law to allow him to go back to appointing Senators. You know, to spare us another controversial and drawn out election.

By nominating Hagel. As I said Rice who was never nominated ends up NSC. Obama looks like the big compromiser, republicans attacked another person of color and he got everything he wanted in the first place. Weak? Yea, not so much in the end.
Today, that woman shouldn't even have a job at all. She should have kicked been out on the street a long time ago.

If Obama wants to appoint a black woman named Rice to be Secretary of State, why not Condi?
She’s highly respected around the world, speaks Russian fluently, has never contributed to a foreign-policy crisis by lying on all five Sunday talkshows on the same day, and doesn’t have a husband who owns a stake in a major controversial oil pipeline.
It’s hard to believe Condi would take the SOS job if she has to keep urging Israel to stop building houses on its own land; however, if Obama is planning to take a ‘’benign neglect’’ attitude toward Israel, as rumored, maybe Condi and Barack can work something out.

She will never go under oath now to answer for Benghazi. The House will not call her.

disagree. I don’t think nominating an old white guy retread from the Senate who voted for the Iraq War gets him any bipartsian cred. republicans won’t be happy, and dems won’t, either. Hagel’s record on Israel doesn’t help him. Hagel is pretty much a dem now anyways, as he endorsed Obama and also even endorsed the dem Bob Kerrey for Senate in NE.
In the end I don’t think tehse appointments will really make that much of a difference. Obama already won re-election and doesn’t really care. But foe the small amount it may matter, I don’t think naming two old white guys whove been in DC forever like Kerry and Hagel really helps him in any meaningful way.
Change indeed.
