CNN founder Ted Turner is well-known for his outlandish liberal views, and CNN’s Suzanne Malveaux teed him up on Thursday to rant against nuclear weapons, call for higher taxes on the wealthy, and announce that “the big, intelligent, well-educated countries have already quit war.”

“President Obama, he says in his second term he wants to make climate change and protecting the environment a top priority. What do you think he should do? What should he do first?” Malveaux prodded the liberal Turner. He answered that Obama should do both and “might as well add getting rid of nuclear weapons too, while we’re at it.” When Malveaux later asked, “So you think Ahmadinejad should have nuclear weapons as well?”, Turner answered, “I think nobody should have them.”

Turner also sniped at the United States when he said that “the big, intelligent, well-educated countries have already quit war.” He added that “war is just about over with.” …

Where do we get minds like these, eh . . . ? I think I will stick with Churchill’s assessment: “The history of man is war.” Nobody across the world has given up war, Mr. Turner; if anything, even the “big, intelligent, well-educated countries” so-called are embracing war more than ever.

The "shrooms" grow under the cowpies. Don't ask me how I know this.

Something like that was said prior to WWI. Nations were too industrialized to go to war.

Ted Turner, Prodded by CNN, Calls for Nuclear Disarmament; Says “War Is Just About Over With”

With the introduction of the machine gun it was widely thought that war was now too terrible to contemplate. That was just prior to WWI. Then they came up with poison gas which intellectuals said would never be used because it was too terrible to contemplate. Those same intellectuals said that war was impossible because the countries of Europe were to interconnected with business and finances.
Let’s not forget, “With this paper bearing Herr Hitler’s signature, I give you peace in our time.”
Mr. Turner seems to lack imagination and any historical perspective. He also seems to have missed the point that Islam is about obliterating all things non-Islamic, which includes, well, everybody he knows.

Given the nature of Iran’s government, the first person who gets the bomb and then decides not to use it will be replaced by somebody who will. Therefore, the first person to get control of it will use it immediately.

An opportunity for a bit of Thursday-night Kipling:

When the Cambrian measures were forming, They promised perpetual peace.
They swore, if we gave them our weapons, that the wars of the tribes would cease.
But when we disarmed They sold us and delivered us bound to our foe,
And the Gods of the Copybook Headings said: "Stick to the Devil you know."

Why not let a lunatic dictate national defense policy?

How much worse can it be than allowing leftwing academic ideologues setting policy?

Disarming our nuclear capability will guarantee WW3 and our complete destruction. ANYONE who attempts this needs to be taken out IMMEDIATELY with EXTREME prejudice as the traitor they would be.

In 1988, I believe it was, Ted Turner -- then the owner of the Atlanta Braves -- was found crawling around the lobby of the hotel at the MLB Winter Meetings, on his hands and knees, barking like a dog.

I propose we take him as seriously as the other major league owners took him at the time.

Isn’t this the same Ted Turner whose butt buddies include Bill Ayers? Yep, someone to take seriously.

Senility is a sad thing to watch.

The world has never seen the likes of war that is going to commence before the return of The Lord. The beginnings of which may be starting in the M.E.
