Marijuana Not High Obama Priority
ABC News ^ | December 14, 2012 | Devin Dwyer

Posted on 12/14/2012 6:49:59 AM PST by John W

President Obama says recreational users of marijuana in states that have legalized the substance should not be a "top priority" of federal law enforcement officials prosecuting the war on drugs.

"We've got bigger fish to fry," Obama said of pot users in Colorado and Washington during an exclusive interview with ABC News' Barbara Walters.

"It would not make sense for us to see a top priority as going after recreational users in states that have determined that it's legal," he said, invoking the same approach taken toward users of medicinal marijuana in 18 states where it's legal.

More of Barbara Walters' exclusive first joint, post-election interview with President Obama and first lady Michelle Obama airs tonight on "20/20" at 10 p.m. ET on ABC stations.

And Amendment to the Constitution was required to outlaw alcohol at the national level. (States may do as they please.)

Why is no Amendment needed for reefer prohibition? Or heroin, for that matter.

Unless the Tenth has been repealed, this is a state issue, not a federal one.

You’re supposed to read that and just believe that smoking pot is raping babies.

I’m not taking about raping a child (participating as you called it). I’m talking about downloading it and watching it.

It can't be watched unless it's created - making the watcher an accessory to the violation of rights that was inherent in that creation. By contrast, nothing about growing, distributing, selling, buying or using marijuana - or tomatoes - violates anybody's rights.

Seattle has 9 flights a day to Washington Dulles airport. Denver has 21 flights a day to Washington Dulles airport. Clearly Seattle is less of a problem than Denver. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_the_busiest_airports_in_the_United_States identifies Sea-Tac as the 15th largest airport by passenger boardings. Top 5 are Atlanta, Chicago, Los Angeles, Dalass and Denver! Them dawgs ‘gwin be at yo gate!

Are there non-recreational users of child porn? Does someone pay them?

You are confused. People get on planes in Denver. They get off planes at Dulles. If they are stoned in Denver, or have some in their possession, they'll still be stoned when they get to Virginia, and it'll still be in their possession ~ AND IT'S AGAINST THE LAW HERE.

We need fines. Our lawyers chillun' might starve.

President Obama gets Government off our backs.

Of course if you want to smoke a cigarette, eat salty french fries, or use a 100 watt lightbulb, that’s a different issue entirely.

Should people have to go through a drug screening when they get OFF a plane?

So. If smoking a joint in the privacy of your own home is OK, then so is watching some boy getting Sandusky’d.

Sarah Palin smoked pot and recently called it a minimal problem.

1. Do you equate Sarah with someone who views child porn?

2. If we can find that you made supportive comments about Sarah, that must mean you would support a consumer of child porn, right?

Please quote the Virginia statute that makes being stoned against the law.

Or, I’m being a total libertarian.

Whether it be drugs or pornography or abortion; nowhere in the Constitution does it refer to these issues and besides - big gubmint nanny staters have no right to moralize.

Nope. A stoner might get high, get the munchies, drive while stoned, then crash into me.

A perv can drive just fine.

Look. If it’s not too obvious, all I’m doing here is pointing out the libertarian hypocracy of beleiving what one does in the privacy of their own home is not anyone’s business.

Tell that to the millions of victims killed by cartels, gangs and their own stupid actions.

Cartels and gangs are part of the marijuana trade because of the marijuana ban, just as organized crime was part of the alcohol trade when there was an alcohol ban.

and their own stupid actions.

Whose rights are violated when someone gets stupid on alcohol or marijuana and kills themself?

They crashed into you in the privacy of their own home?

It's the driving while stoned, not the being stoned, that's anyone’s business.
