The snarky character axed from the A&E reality show “Storage Wars” — and who now filed a bombshell lawsuit claiming the show is rigged — has always been a trouble maker, production sources claim.
“He was always demanding more this and that and whined that things were rigged when he was outbid,” a show source said of David Hester, who sued the show and A&E Tuesday, alleging the entire series is a fraud.

I’m predicting this lawsuit will serve only to drain Hester of his finances.
All reality shows are staged and filmed for drama and effect to get the audience coming back. Otherwise, “real life” reality is BORING! Who would watch? Not I. I am interested in antiques and old, interesting stuff, so I gravitate towards American Pickers, Pawn Stars, American Restoration, etc. I know they are staged but what isn’t? Some shows I watch for the interaction of the characters; others for the subject matter.
I also like Holmes Inspections, a home remodel reality show. I saw a program where they showed the behind scenes of how they made the program. There was three times the work to set-up and film the work being being done than on the remodel itself. It took an enormous effort and was very time-consuming to film the demolition, and rebuild of the houses they were remodeling. It was very enlightening as to how much these reality shows have to be staged to bring the audience the final product. So only the most naive could think these reality shows are “real”.
Another show I watch is Duck Dynasty. Living in the south, I like to watch the funny antics of the Robertson family and the Duck Commander crew each episode. It’s good clean fun and they even include religion and church in some episodes. There’s always a prayer at the end by the family patriarch, Phil, as the family sits around a big table to enjoy dinner together. Willie always voice overs a moral to the episode and life. Is is staged? Absolutely. Does that make it fake. Not necessarily. Some of you that watch it may not know that the father, Phil, was a talented first string quarterback ahead of the famed second string Terry Bradshaw in college at Louisiana Tech. But he dropped out after three years and didn’t pursue a promising career in the NFL because he liked duck hunting too much. True story. Now that’s some “reality”!

I've had people from Houston drive into our property and act like they own the place.
The next thing you know, you’re going to tell me that the TV wrestling shows are staged, too. I am depressed.
They don’t like being photographed like they’re a tourist destination, which if you think about it nobody really would. When it’s a closer to normal situation they’re OK with it. And at this juncture in American history being part of a basic cable reality show is pretty normal.
I despise all reality shows with the power of a 1,000 suns.
They will treat a farm or ranch like a zoo or tourist attraction. Clueless.

I want to assure you that they do! In most states they are required by law to assure that hazardous or unlawful material is not stored.
I do the same but I have come to the conclusion that Berry is probably one of the producers or some such. There is no way he is a regular storage guy. He always pays too much, has no shop to sell anything (takes 98 percent of the stuff to the dump)and appears quite rich. I suspect he is just having fun.

Barry is worth $25 million by some reports, and lives in a very fancy home in a rich neighborhood, apparently very near Natalie Portman’s house.
But he could well just be a bit eccentric, and in it for the thrill of finding that special collectable, like he says.
If he has money, he could just buy collectables. But this is a bit more like a treasure hunt.

Actually you pretty much nailed it. According to Barry's biographical write up he owned a large West Coast produce company and when he sold it he became a multi-millionaire (which explains all the expensive cars he shows up in). Barry was good friends with the creator of Storage Wars (and everybody else in the entertainment and music industry apparently). The creator of the show was looking for somebody to give an "everyman" "outsiders" perspective of the storage auction business, and asked Barry to join the cast.
I too prefer the History Channel’s shows Pawn Stars, American Pickers and American Restoration over A&E’s Storage Wars; although even those shows also have the deficits of too much repetition - from people always using the same phrases at the same point in the story, or in a segment, and the fact that instead of each show have only a single window of time, they show one segment after another, after another, after another; so “burn out” comes quickly.
At least, beside the scripted “drama” on the Pawn Stars, American Pickers and American Restoration, you can also learn a lot of American history through the things that were made, bought and sold in America in the past.

With an idiot like Jarrod for a husband it would be hard not to.
Most if not all of them will get pissed off if you tell them to leave and they have some wild left wing belief that the land should belong to everyone and one person shouldn’t be allowed to own so much land.
The storage company owners cannot do that. The auction process is established in law. The purpose is prevent the rental company from abusing the relationship with the tenants to gain possession of their property.
