Islam is the fastest growing religion in England and Wales, according to new census data. The number of people identifying with no religion nearly doubled over the last decade while the percentage of people who call themselves Christians has dropped to 59 percent, down from 72 percent 10 years ago.
The Muslim Council of Britain was pleased with the new data, saying Muslims were playing a “significant part in increasing diversity in Britain.”
Of the roughly 56.07 million people counted in the census, 33.24 million described themselves as “Christian” while 2.7 million identified as Muslims, an increase from 3.0 percent to 4.8 percent over a 10-year period. Further, the 2.7 million Muslims in England and Wales make it the second largest religion there. The next largest religions are Hinduism (817,000), Sikhism (423,000), Buddhism (248,000) and Judaism (263,000).
Religious leaders attempted to explain away the trend. “Christianity is no longer a religion of culture, but a religion of decision and commitment,” said a spokesman for the Catholic Church.
A spokesman for the Archbishop’s Council of the Church of England said “one of the reasons may well be fewer people identifying as ‘Cultural Christians’ i.e. those who have no active involvement with churches and who may previously have identified as Christian for cultural or historical reasons.”

As long as the Muslim population remains around 1% of any given country they will be regarded as a peace-loving minority and not as a threat to anyone. In fact, they may be featured in articles and films, stereotyped for their colorful uniqueness.
At 2% and 3% they begin to proselytize from other ethnic minorities and disaffected groups with major recruiting from the jails and among street gangs [Europe, Australia, USA and Japan]. Six percent of US prison inmates are Muslim. Like any other minority, they won’t integrate, but work to build their own separate community.
From 5% on they exercise an inordinate influence in proportion to their percentage of the population. South Africa's Muslim population is 2%, but they control 35% of the businesses, a large percentage of the banks and have five Cabinet seats while Christians (77% of the population) have none.
They will push for the introduction of halaal (clean by Islamic standards) food, thereby securing food preparation jobs for Muslims. They will increase pressure on supermarket chains to feature it on their shelves (along with threats for failure to comply).
At this point, they will work to get the ruling government to allow them to rule themselves under Sharia; Islamic Law. The ultimate goal of Islam is not to convert the world, but to establish Sharia law over the entire world.
When Muslims reach 10% of the population, they will increase lawlessness as a means of complaint about their conditions. (Ei: car-burnings in France last October.) Any non-Muslim action that offends Islam will result in uprisings and threats.
After reaching 20% expect hair-trigger rioting, jihad militia formations, sporadic killings and church and synagogue burning (India, Mindanao, Philippines).
At 40% you will find widespread massacres, chronic terror attacks and ongoing militia warfare [Indonesia].
From 60% you may expect unfettered persecution of non-believers and other religions, sporadic ethnic cleansing (genocide), use of Sharia Law as a weapon and Jizya (infidel tax). (Sudan, Kosovo, Lebanon and Egypt).
After 80% expect State run ethnic cleansing and genocide [Western Papua (New Guinea), Iran, Biafra, Turkey and North Nigeria].
100% will usher in the peace of "Dar-es-Salaam" - House of Peace - as in Saudi Arabia, Libya and Yemen.

I wonder just how accurate a measure this might be, every child born into a muslim family is counted as a muslim, but just how many will grow up to be muslim in anything but name only?

96% of the UK is NOT Muslim. 92% is white. And even bigger if you take the parts of the UK in turn: Scotland for example is 99.16% non-Muslim. And Wales and NI have even less.
Islam hasnt conquered us, nor will it. Yes, we are too PC at times, but thats not the same. Stop believing the hype and the hysteria.
I’m guessing this has a lot to do with England’s ever growing Muslim population thru its open immigration policy.
The current British govt has tightened immigration, unlike the opendoor policy of Labour 1997-2010.
Today of all days, even the new Labour leader, Ed Millband (himself the son of a Jewish refugee from Nazi Germany) has publicly criticised 1997-2010 policies and has stated publicly stated that all immigrants to the UK from now even under his party’s future rule will have to speak a good standard of English.
Cynical perhaps to gain votes for 2015, but a step in the right direction.

This is a good thing. Being a religion of culture has watered Christianity down so far that it’s almost meaningless for most believers.

Yeah, that’s my thinking as well. Some of it has to do with England and other countries being liberal, but mostly it has to do with the world population expanding. In the past 50 years the population has more than doubled from 3 billion to 7 billion so of course 50 even 20 years ago there was a hell of a lot less immigrants than today. But can you imagine 100 years from now? Especially as the tech in health gets better? Can this world handle close to 20 billion people?
Sheesh, I really don’t see much difference between what is happening in the UK and the US when it comes to the spread of Islam.
What is so disgusting is that we have Republican congresscritters keeping quiet on this subject as they urge their constituents to financially support them.
