Sandy Hook elementary school gunman Adam Lanza learned to shoot from his gun-collecting mom

His mother taught him the way of the gun.

Adam Lanza, the troubled nerd who turned a Connecticut school into a slaughterhouse, learned how to shoot under the watchful eye of his demanding mom Nancy.

“She said she would often go target shooting with her kids,” landscaper Dan Holmes said.

Nancy Lanza wound up being the first of her son’s 27 victims when he used one of her guns to shoot her dead.

Holmes, who often mowed the grass at the Lanza’s sprawling Newtown home, told Reuters the doomed mom was proud of her arsenal and once showed him a “high end rifle” she had just purchased.

Lanza’s dad, Peter, a successful financial services expert, was divorced from his mother. But it was the dad, who reportedly took the divorce hard. And he made sure his ex, and his kids, were well provided for.

Peter Lanza was paying his ex annual alimony payments that started at $240,000 and would have reached $298,800 in 2015. He left her the family home before he decamped for Stamford.

How Lanza reacted to his parents’ divorce was also unclear, but a family insider told The Daily News after the killings that they were “lovely, very generous people who were very kind to each other during the divorce.”

Friends of the Lanza family said his mother kept the future killer with other activities like the Boy Scouts, as well as the shooting.

Lanza, like many young boys of his generation collected Pokemon cards and played violent PlayStation video games like Dynasty Warriors, where animated characters waged brutal battles with an array of weapons.

“Agree 100% and now we have an apparent epidemic thanks to the media giving these losers the fame and notoriety they were seeking.”

YES. The mainstream media are causing this epidemic of shootings .The media are doing it on purpose for political reasons, to take away our guns. The media know that these idiots seek fame and so they give them the fame. Yet no one is blaming the media. I hear morons calling for gun control ( puppets of the media). The media are pure evil and it's time to call them out on it don't you think? we should all write emails to Rush , Drudge etc.

The media has blood on its hands yet they put the blame on conservatives who support the right to defend ourselves and not be slaves of the government.A slave is not allowed to own a gun but the master ( the government ) is .the media just wants to empower government and take away individual rights .

Do you really need to post this?

The Manlycons on the other thread already have her pegged as a right bitch who took the husband's beloved guns in the divorce.

Do we really want to complicate the story?

Drugs don't cause mayhem - mental illness does.

Now, nothing is 100%, and I do believe there are cases where drugs did specifically cause the user to go beserk. But the root of the problem is mental illness.

I come from a large family, and within it are members suffering with mental illnesses of one form or another. Some have done great damage until they began consistently taking medication. Few challenges in this world equal that of coping with, attempting to ameliorate, finding a solution to, mental illness.

Is turning one into Chief Broom the answer? It depends on the severity of the acting out of the illness. There are a rainbow of gradations of drug therapy between self-medication (booze pot cocaine etal) and Chief Broom. It's a labyrinth to walk with someone on this journey to find some level of success. The failure rate is no doubt high. I guess we will learn more of the Lanza boy's parents' walk with him.

Why did the mentally dificient person’s mother decide to give the autistic child a gun and the skills to use it?

Mom played a big part in this and was given the first death sentence it appears.

There are tens, if not hundreds, of millions of guns in this country, yet this is the first time a troubled autistic son of a pistol-packin’ mama has ever mass-murdered 27 people in a school.

This is a rare, horrible tragedy that people respond to in various ways, primarily with deep sympathy. But the issue of gun control is NOT what decent, caring people first think about at times like this. Only self-serving liberal politicians and journalists and their followers fall into this category.

When America was a great country, people responded to tragedies like yesterday’s by praying for the bereaved families and working together as communities to prevent future horrors.

But in the days when America was great, Americans had local control of their schools, so they could improve them, but that’s not the case now.

Instead, after a mass murder in a school, we have to listen to the President, the head of the Federal government that does have control of our schools, make banal speeches, and to pundits either inanely promoting stricter gun-control laws even when the state in which a mass-murder like yesterday’s occurred already has strict gun-control laws, or discussing how many tears the President shed during his speech.

This article provided some new background details so I deemed it newsworthy. It’s darn difficult to avoid all agenda-driven, MSM bias.

This article provided some new background details

We demand an absence of background details! How can we possibly make the right decision if we know the facts?

Three reasons why these things happen.

Mental problems, Meds, and Media hype.

It doesn't take long to begin exploiting tragedy does it?

The Leftists on Facebook were on it before the brass hit the floor.

Notice how you can see the whites of his eyes 360 degrees around his corneas.

Remember Marshall Applewhite?

People who photograph this way need to be rounded up and jailed for the protection of society.

Adam Lanza was old enough to vote. Last month he either voted for Obama, did not vote, voted for Romney, or voted for a third party candidate. If anyone who knew him claims to have heard him say anything that could possibly suggest he even considered voting for Romney, expect the MSM to pounce on it and obsess over it...even if totally bogus.

We don’t know if there were more than the three guns he had but three would be considered a collection only by the msm.

“Right, the woman showed the occasional gardener her new rifle”

Actually it may have been to make a valid point to the gardener that a divorced woman has the means to protect herself.

A friend of mine who moved around a lot, would, shortly after moving in, sit on a chair in his back yard and clean his shotgun. He would aim it and work the action. He did this to alert his new neighbors that he was armed.
