A bedbug infestation at a Northwest Washington fire station left firefighters sleeping in their personal vehicles or in the firetrucks to avoid being bitten by the bugs in their bunkrooms, a report on the conditions at D.C. firehouses found.
The 180-page report by the Office of the Inspector General details a wide swath of problematic conditions at D.C. fire stations across the city, including a lack of working smoke detectors, leaking roofs, flooded basements, rodent infestations and inoperable heating or cooling systems. Among the findings, 19 stations had significant rodent problems with one reporting that dead mice had been found in a refrigerator, seven did not have functional heating systems in living quarters, 27 did not have fire extinguishers, and 22 reported that the monitor that displays call information either was not working or was unreliable.
Complicating matters is the fact that the department has no formal policy for reporting and overseeing repairs.

The District of Corruption has always been loaded with bedbugs because of all of the politicians there. It’s the official animal for DC. I don’t know why they are just now starting to worry about them.
A simple spray of DDT will kill them all. Only one application is necessary to the bed as the bugs will have to come in contact with it as they go to feed.

In WWII, the US Army did not mess around with stuff like this. They would tent the building, then fill it with cyanide gas. After the fact, soldiers would notice a heavy layer of what looked like coffee grounds next to baseboards in their barracks, dead insects that had fallen out of the walls.
Since the gas was lighter than air, it would slowly leak out of the tent and go straight up, the only hazard being to birds that flew directly over the tent. After a good airing, the building would be free of every variety of vermin and pest.

The Biggest rodent in the DC Fire Department is the Fire Chief,Kenneth Ellerbie.
A racist incompetent who left DC to go to Sarasota Fla., screwed up that Fire Department and then was hired back by Gray, because he and Eleonor Holmes Norton are so tight.
Ellerbe has done nothing but cause dossention since the day he came back. He has already lost one law suit in DC when he tried to harass an officer by transferring him, he has demoted 2 Chief Officers and one Lt. for no reason, and tries to lead with threats.
Get rid of Ellerbe and the main pest in DC Fire Department is gone.
Sounds like one inept bunch of firefighters. Does no one know how to clean a fridge, sweep the floors, set traps, or are they all just lazy. The bugs are already in the trucks.
Bedbugs are very hard to eliminate.

There are numerous better ways to effectively deal with a problem.
Yes, they are, but general cleanliness is not and especially for guys who can sit around for periods of time.
