Bill Bennett, former Education Secretary, is still trying to remain relevant in the world of so-called conservatism.

He used to have a morning coffee Klatch that was about as irrelevant to conservatism, RINOism or anything Republican as a wart on my arse. They took that off the mainstream air here in Atlanta; and, I suspect ‘they’ did this in a whole lot of markets around the country.

It is not up to him, his momma, Connecticut, the Democrat Party, OR the Republican Party to give away my right to bear arms (no mention of arms type, e.g., assault rifle is given in the 2nd Amendment, nor is there a specific purpose needed, i.e., hunting).

If they want to take them away, then get Three Quarters of the States in this increasingly irrelevant Union and enact an Amendment to repeal the 2nd Amendment. Otherwise, be prepared for a shitstorm if you try to take them without it.

No surprise coming from Bill Bennett. He is another "conservative" who is uncomfortable when he isn't saying SOMEthing, and apparently he thinks a term like "assault weapons" will go over well enough with his entourage.*

*That ain't you and me, folks.

The GOP elite - and Bennett is an outer-circle member - was nothing more than a studio set long before November 6 showed how out-of-touch and feckless they actually were. Behold the rest of the iceberg - so to speak - when it comes to such "champions of individual liberties."

I have never been a Republican. I have always had to vote Republican, however, in order to vote against the damned Democrats, who are now the rabid leftists in control of this nation. All those years of voting against them didn’t help....when so many pretenda-conservatives chose not to vote against them and against Obama in the end, just because Romney wasn’t “conservative enough” for them. Circumstances beyond my control, but at least I tried.

And now look how royally SCREWED we are. I really don’t think America will survive AS America now.

Merry Effing Christmas to any and all so-called conservatives that refused to vote for Romney last month. I hope ya choke on your eggnog.

Someone on his radio show once brought up the Prop 8 court battle, and Bennett was oblivious about even knowing about Prop 8. I knew then that he had complete contempt for any “social” issues.

—yep—glad to see there are some others here whose memory goes back that far—

—that act was the one that caused me to start correspondence with politicians on the subject of “assault” weapons—

Stock up on guns, and ammo. The war will start soon. Luckily the left would know which end of the gun to point.

Bennett is a classic RINO, Pseudo-Con, if there ever was one. I have nearly given up listening to his boring radio show. He is one of the inside the beltway, go-along-to-get-along RINOs who are clueless about realities in America and this comment exposes it even more.

Pat Buchanan rightfully put Bennett in his place years ago.

Too many folks are being led by their emotions, not their intellects.

We have so few intellects left in this Country it makes them useless to build a rational society.

The individual states are the key to America's survival. After all, look what's happening to Michigan. We're becoming a real thorn in Obama's side.

Michigan moves to end gun-free zones

Bennett was never “conservative.”

He’s an example of the erstwhile anti-abortion Catholic who would otherwise be a liberal except that the DNC’s position on abortion offends him.

Bennett has always been anti-gun. His “solution” to drug runners in the 1980’s was the freeze the population of NFA full-auto weapons.

I too had the same question - and saw an overhead video (news helicopter?) of a lawman removing a long gun from a car trunk. It didn’t look like an AR type, but otherwise not clear enough to define. Then on more recent news the trunk gun was described as a shotgun, and “capable of using a large drum magazine”.

So my current working scenario is that the .223 was used in the classroom, and the trunk gun was a shotgun.

I’m starting to think that all these establishment republicans have seen the writing on the wall that our country is going to the socialists, so they are abandoning all ties with conservatives in order to remain relevant in the new order currently unfolding before our eyes.

19th Amendment. Once you let women vote, you guarantee that all government decisions will eventually be decided by emotion rather than reason. There was a reason the Founders didn’t allow women to vote.

The gun in the trunk has been ID as a Saga semi auto shot gun. The Medical Examiner said the dead were killed by the .223. The shooter killed himself with a hand gun.
That seems to be the story at this time.
The big question is why the shooter chose the school...just the closest soft target? Some grievance? Some personal relationship?
In the meantime..it looks like the battle is on over so called “assault weapons”..those 990 models that Fineswine wants to ban.
