The state legislature has passed this law and now it is up to the governor to sign it. The long additional training requirements required to let people guns in these places as well as the ability of schools to still ban the carrying of guns mean that many places will still not be protected. Still, it is a movement in the right direction.

Comment sections in the Detroit papers are comedy gold as MI lefties freak out over decisive action in the name of Constitutional rights and common sense. Apparently they look at the smoking crater of the city and see Oz.
What’s with Michigan these days? First right to work, now no gun free zones.
I guess that is what happen when a good chunk of a state’s largest city self vacates. I wish Philadelphia would do that.

according to wiki,google,and the united states census and dept of vital statistics.last year 95,000 people died from alcohol,42000 died from automobiles,and 9,000 died from guns.So since drinking and driving are both highly regulated why do they have the highest deaths?Drinking killed 10 times and many as guns and cars killed 5 times as many.There are more guns per capita in the us than there are cars or bars.Yet guns have the lowest rate of death.If you actualy compared the figures of gun ownership to car ownership cars kill more in 1 month than guns do in 5 years.

Detroit isn’t particularly liberal. They just have an apathetic population and corrupt local government. If you want nutjob liberal you gotta go to Ann Arbor or Kalamazoo.
Pretty wimpy bill. But the first thing they can do is get rid of those STUPID “Gun-free School Zone” signs. Talk about INVITING nutcases to shoot up the place...
