Police arrest man with 47 guns after threatening to kill at ANOTHER elementary school

Full Title Was: Police arrest man with 47 guns after threatening to 'kill as many people as possible' at ANOTHER elementary school at the SAME TIME as Connecticut massacre

An Indiana man with 47 guns and stocks of ammunition was arrested after threatening to go into a local elementary school and 'kill as many people as he could before police could stop him'.

Von Meyer, 60, was arrested on Friday after his wife called Cedar Lake police after he threatened to set her on fire and continue his violent spree by attacking a nearby elementary school.

The loaded threat came the same day that a young man killed 20 children and seven others in Newtown, Connecticut.

When police arrived at Meyer's home, they found 47 guns and ammunition, the sum of which cost more than $100,000.

'Through investigation, police learned that Meyer reportedly had a large number of weapons hidden throughout the two story historical home,' the report states.

The makes and models of the guns have not been released, but many of them were said to be historical collectors items.

Meyer allegedly said that he was going to light his wife on fire once she fell asleep. His plan didn't end there, however, as he set his sights on the Jane Ball Elementary School which is less than 1,000 feet away from his home.

The police report states that the school is easily accessed from Meyer's home by a series of trails and paths that cut through a wooded area.

Officials at Jane Ball School were notified, and they immediately took unspecified security measures.

The same happened at all local schools on Friday because of the threat, which was undoubtedly heightened as news rolled in of the shooting in Connecticut.

“What is going on? This is the third incident that was intended to occur on Friday.”

I'm going to say this for a possibility: It is five days until Dec. 21. I'm reading reports from all over the world of people having strange behavior as they think the end of the world is coming on that date.

Even in China, people are throwing their belongings away, saying they won't need them, giving their money away or buying goods with that money that they have always wanted, thinking it doesn't matter now to spend all their money buying something they wanted.

People are going up certain mountains in the world, one in France, of course Mexico near Cancun where a Mayan pyramid is, and other mountains thought to be “holy”.

Are we going to see more strange behavior from now until after Dec. 21? Could these people who are acting out with guns, think it doesn't matter now, they can do what they want?

This is NOT a gun problem...this is a Psychiatric Pharmaceutical PROBLEM!!
Dangerous unproven drugs led to the suicidal hanging of one of my sons high school friend 1 week after placed on antidepressants. It is happening more than anyone realizes. Homocidal and suicidal tendencies are effects of these drugs...

I’m all for freedom of press, but this is where they need to restrain themselves, out for the best interest of this country. Kinda like the Brits’ media so-called blackout on Prince Harry serving overseas.

"Should be a law for a mandatory life sentence without parole for anyone making such threats."

How do you know if the wife just made the story up? Anyone could call the police and claim you made such a threat. Instant home invasion by jack-booted thugs. God help you if you have a few rifles. The MSM would instantly report you as having an arsenal of weapons and cop-killing ammunition.

Actually, there is a more scientific explanation for the insanity. People on the edge are put on pharmaceuticals that make them more unstable during a time of magnetic field disruption which affects all humans adversely..... they are simply the most vulnerable....

“Our Sun affects our mental and physical health. The Sun’s activity as it interacts with the Earths magnetic field, effects extensive changes in human beings perspectives, moods, emotions and behavioral patterns.”

You may be onto something there. If someone really, way down at the core of being, really believes the world’s gonna go kerplooey in five more days, than they may be thinking, “Meh....what the hell. Let’s do it!”

People in China are going a little crazy, here where I am in Europe, we got folks going to some hapless little village in France thinking a nearby mountain harbors some UFO mothership, and assorted other craziness. Here in the Czech Republic, it’s actually not that crazy, and ironically it’s because so many people here are atheists; they simply find the 2012 thing to be some weird, crackpot religious flakiness. They just don’t get worked up over it, and if anything, they find the whole notion amusing.

With four such events programmed, three of them were stopped cold by civilians contacting the cops.

In no case did police prior knowledge of registered firearms assist them in getting a jump on the situation.

Sorry for the double post, but you’re right again. The media has to show some restaint, but they won’t. If they can get a scoop on anything, they will. Thank God they weren’t like this during WWII. They’d be announcing when and where the convoys were leaving to cross the Atlantic.

As a criminal defense attorney I can tell you that most of the time these “threats” are just made up by an angry wife or girlfriend on the verge of or just after a break up.
I’m not saying to take threats lightly, but at least corroborate them and consider the source.
Sadly it’s often the sleazy family lawyers that advise their clients to come up with some real whoppers of either threats of violence or unsupportable accusations of sexual abuse.
I recently got a completely innocent young man out of jail after a vindictive female co worker told her superiors at work that he said he was planning to blow up the work place.
The cops ran with it and made no efforts to seriously investigate. Instead an arrest warrant was creatively trumped up and signed by a judge landing my client in jail on an extremely high bond for 6 weeks.
It took a lot of maneuvering to get it in front of the grand jury and he was promptly no billed. It’s sad when justice delayed is the best one can hope for.
I say just repeal all bans on carrying guns at school.
Change them to “it shall be unlawful to carry or possess a firearm on school premises during the commission of an assaultive offense or premeditated intent to commit an unlawful act of violence.

There are nuts, psychopaths, terrorists and otherwise evil people planning the next slaughter right now.

It is just a short matter of time before it happens again.

And every word wasted on the subject of control and not spent on the subject of fortifying the most senstive targets that we do not want hit ENABLES ALL OF THEM.

Every day that goes by without armed and armored men in schools tells these bastards THAT WE DO NOT CARE ABOUT THESE TARGETS.

We had best take action right now. Waiting for our idiot politicians to pass more useless gun control laws is ****ING LUNACY!

Bingo we have a Winner! Remember the insane news coverage of the CT school shooting. I have never seen the media do such a bad job of reporting on a horrible tragedy.

Four years of unbridled obama and bernanke selling out america and all that’s come from it is pushing already stressed out people over the edge. This will get worse. First fear the wackos, then the government responding to them.

I think the massive day after day media coverage of these shootings encourages the other nut jobs out there to go ahead and act. They finally get the attention that they so desparately needed in life, in death, after they kill all the victims and then themselves. Media is responsible. BO is responsible for honoring rappers with violent lyrics into the WH. Someone please ask him if he will no longer honor these people. BO watches Benghazi and lets them be murdered. H

Women have a HUGE history of calling the po po and lying in
order to get their husband/boyfriend arrested because they are mad at him. It’s extremely unlikely that this man actually made such a threat and it’s hugely probable that the wife lied about it.
