Lieberman, Democrats want ban on assault weapons

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Democratic lawmakers and independent Sen. Joe Lieberman said Sunday that military-style assault weapons should be banned and that a national commission should be established to examine mass shootings in the United States.

The proposals were among the first to come from Congress in the wake of Friday's school shooting in Newtown, Conn.

"Assault weapons were developed for the U.S. military, not commercial gun manufacturers," Lieberman said before a vigil Sunday night in Newtown.

"This is a moment to start a very serious national conversation about violence in our society, particularly about these acts of mass violence," said the Connecticut senator, who is retiring next month.

I wonder if these schools ended up using school fees to install these foot baths for the koranimals? If they did I would hope that clever American students added bacon or feces to them daily.

Complete insanity in Ann Arbor. Words can’t describe what needs to happen to the mohamhead (urine be upon him) garbage.

There is no reason for average citizens to drive any vehicle with anything bigger than a 4 cyl. engine. We have speed limits in this country for a reason and nearly every 4 cyl. car on the market can go that speed limit and then some. The only things larger engines are made for is power and speed, and are completely unnecessary for daily use. These cars should be reserved for race car and professional drivers only. Driving fast and recklessly has killed people in the past. We must keep these kinds of cars out of the hands of the general public. I’m not trying to advocate against your right to own a car—just the kind of car you are allowed to have. Vehicle deaths in this country are too high. It’s obviously a direct result of having too many high-powered cars on the road.

On the Liberal premise that any law is justified if it will “save only just one life”, then the government should immediately mandate a governor on every motorized vehicle so that it will not go more than 20 miles per hour. Statistics will show that almost all traffic fatalities occur in vehicles travelling more than 20 miles per hour so it’s only right that this law be passed to protect innocent victims, especially children, from high speed collisions. Enforcing the new speed limit through a governor rather than just a posted speed limit will ensure that nobody can deliberately or intentionally flout the law. The destruction that would occur to the country’s distribution of goods, tourism, etc., is a small price to be paid if only one life can be saved. Let’s make America a Risk Free America.

The question is during the 10 year ban were there any mass killings or rather did the ban prevent any.

The saddest part of satire is that it’s twinged with truth. *sigh*

I still haven’t heard where “assault weapons” were used in this shooting.

I saw / heard conflicting reports. Some sources say the .223 was left in the car; others say it was used in all the killings. Is there any accurate info available? if so, where?

My family has experience with the bed sheet & blazing cross wing of the Democrat party & its not surprising that they want to keep the most up to date firearms technology from the people.

It would interfere with the plans the various & assorted dirty politicians have made to basically make you a serf.

We have a limited window of opportunity to preserve the Constitution & the rule of law as was created by the founding fathers if the current junta & it’s allies in the media & the state security organs have their way this nation will become a police state.
