Holy God,
You always had a plan to redeem Your people. You always held such great love for us that You never once wanted anything but complete salvation for us. And You sent that Love to us from heaven in the form of a Precious Baby, born of a virgin, to dwell among us, love us, teach us, heal us, and ultimately die for us. In so doing, the perfect sacrifice was made in payment for every sin ever committed----past, present, and future. So great a love; so great a Gift. Lord, the work of Jesus is done. What we must do is accept the Gift and His Lordship over our lives. Thank You, Father, for this beautiful time of year when we are reminded of that love over and over again.
Father, we know You understand the grief America is experiencing over the loss of her children in Connecticut. The pain is piercing, Lord. For those whose hearts are broken, it seems nearly impossible that life could ever go on. And yet we know, Father, that You are the God of comfort, of healing, of restoration, of hope, and of eternity. We pray for these families, Lord, crying out to You from the very deepest portion of our spirits. We mourn with them and want to remove this sorrow from their lives. Though our efforts are inadequate, You are able to bring Light into these very dark days. We commit these families to You, Lord, asking for You to send ministering angels to help them and the Spirit of comfort and peace to console them. May the prayers of Your people hold them up as You sustain them.
We pray for our military men and women and especially those who must spend these beautiful holidays away from their loved ones. Comfort them and protect them in their times of loneliness, Father. We ask that every family member who waits for their safe return would be blessed and protected as well. Reward these troops who lay down their lives for others, Lord. Cause them to dwell in the shadow of Your mighty wings and to take refuge under Your powerful shield.
May Israel be blessed and shielded as well, Father, from all those who hate her. Send forth the mighty armies of the Most High God to defend her, and may Your wisdom be received by her leaders. Help our nation to stand up for her and support her, Lord---especially with our prayers.
One Baby changed the entire earth. One Life was given as payment for all sin. One Love is greater than any other love. How blessed we are to know the Savior. May His Name be glorified as we pray together this day. We love you, Precious Immanuel. Amen.

Heavenly Father,
During these dispiriting times, may we examine our hearts and confess our personal and national sins. Give us a new heart and spirit. May Your spirit be outpoured in our land as we return to You as we have during times of great need.
Protect all those who put us in harm’s way to keep us safe.
May we continue to be salt in our nation and stop the decay.
In Jesus Name,
Amen

Worth The Risk
December 17, 2012
What would one give in exchange for a new iPad? One 17-year-old boy gave a kidney! Apparently, he couldnt afford an iPad and wanted one so badly that he was willing to risk surgery.
Stephen, in Acts 7, took a serious risk, but it was for proclaiming the good news about Jesus. While performing miracles, he was seized, falsely accused of blasphemy against God and the Mosaic law, and brought before the high priest (6:8-14). In response to a question from the high priest (7:1), Stephen took a risk and preached a sermon he knew his hearers would not like. He said that throughout Israels history, the nation had repeatedly rejected Gods messengers. And now, they had rejected the Messiah.
Stephens sermon provoked a strong reaction. They cried out with a loud voice, stopped their ears, and ran at him with one accord; and they cast him out of the city and stoned him (vv.57-58). Why would Stephen risk his life to preach about Jesus? He desperately wanted his hearers to know that because of Jesus death and resurrection, they no longer needed to live under the law but could live under grace and forgiveness (6:13-15; Eph. 2:8-9). Jesus died so that we may have eternal life.
Lord, You have done so much for us. You give us
our very breath and blessing upon blessing.
We give ourselves back to You to use
to spread the glorious gospel of Christ. Amen.
A Christians life is a window
through which others can see Jesus.

Heartfelt thanks for praying today. In times like this, we must not lose hope nor cease from praying.

PRAYERS ASCENDING ON HIGH FOR OUR AMERICAN HEROES AND FOR OUR BELOVED NATION!
GEN. GEORGE WASHINGTON THE PRAYER AT VALLEY FORGE "Let Tyrants Shake Their Iron Rod" William Billings Mixed District Choir, Fairfax, Virginia (Click)
In the coldest and darkest days of the American Revolution, General George Washington raised his prayers for the survival of his beleaguered Army and of the new Nation. The Lord answered those prayers, upheld his Army through a punishing nadir to everlasting glory and bestowed His manifold benefits upon the new Nation.
In like manner, let our prayers now rise lie a fountain for our Heroes in the American Armed Forces who seek to secure the benefits of Freedom on behalf of a people hungry for them. Father, look on our prayers for them with favor, guide their steps in righteousness and keep them in the shelter of Your Healing Wings. Bless and uphold them in the performance of their Mission. Through Jesus Christ, Your Son, with the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever, Amen.

Heavenly Father, Lord of the Nations, unto Your Divine Mercy we commend the souls of these brave men and women who have fallen in the service of our Beloved Nation and in defense of the Freedoms we hold dear. We pray that You gather them in Your loving embrace, that You cause Your countenance to shine upon them, and that You vouchsafe their souls to dwell eternally in Your Divine Presence. Through Jesus Christ Your Son, with the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever, Amen. |
