The owner of Thai Noodle House in Austin, Texas has been bombarded with criticism after he posted a racially-charged and offensive Facebook status regarding the tragic shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn. On Friday, a gunman opened fire at the school, killing 20 innocent children and six adults before he took his own life.

“I don’t care if a bunch of white kids got killed,” the restaurant’s owner Eddie Nimibutr wrote on his Facebook page shortly after the shooting occurred. “F**k Post-Racial bullsh*t. When kids from minority groups get shot, nobody cares. When Israel launched missiles at the school on Gaza, everybody was too busy jerking off. Why should i care about people who dont give a damn about me?”

America was never a paradise for all people -- but when I was younger it really did seem to be coming together. I remember a time when racial animosity was ... I won't say eliminated ... but it went far underground. You didn't call people names. You didn't make jokes. You didn't say "I hate those people" -- because if you did, everybody (that's: everybody) would tell you to get stuffed.

Somehow, since about 2009 or so, this country seems to have really descended into a maelstrom of racial hatred. It's open season on everybody, and no one is holding back or making apologies.

Silly guy. If he were killed, people would "care," even White people. When he's still alive, the assumption is that he can figure things out for himself.

In a similar way, when there's a hurricane or a a tsunami people donate to those hurt by the disaster. We don't think about them much otherwise, but if they're in trouble, in a way, we do "care."

If he had a child and the child was killed we'd care, though in the absence of a tragedy, we'd probably assume that he could manage raising the kid.

I have never eaten at this restaurant, and NEVER will. Somone shared with me on facebook a post of a text the owner of this establishment sent yesterday during the massacre coverage that showed absolute insensitivity towards humanity and our country. I don't even want to repeat what he wrote on here, but trust me, it was disgusting. I hope this restaurant fails and the owner lives in shame and poverty.

Mr. Nimibutr is no longer with the restaurant and indeed was never the owner of the restaurant, but was formerly in the restaurant’s employ as a chef (a cursory search of local LLC’s finds Nimibutr to be listed as owner of the establishment so this may be a bit of damage control)
