Grassley, Reid, Manchin: Let's debate gun violence (Here we go again!)
Boston Herald ^ | 12/18/2012 | ap

Even as most Republicans played it safe and initially said little about the politically treacherous issue of gun control, a senior GOP senator has called for a study of both gun violence and mental health issues.

Sen. Charles Grassley made his suggestion as formerly pro-gun Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said Monday it's now time to place gun control on the table.

The mainstream media causes these shootings.

These idiots or psychos do it for the fame the media will give them.

The media makes these shooters household names.

These idiots seek the fame, attention or immortality the media will give them. That is the main reason. Can anyone tell me that the media has to keep blasting this creep’s picture and name all over ? or that they have to cover every detail of its life? NO. In fact the media have to know that just mentioning its name will give it the fame that it seeks and will cause other copy cats. But they know what they are doing . The media want to empower government and take away our individual rights including our right to protect ourselves with guns.

Right now the next idiot shooter is being created by the media coverage of the current shooter. In this new one’s sick mind he will be the next star . The media know this and they purposefully do it to create him

I agree it should be discussed.

Here is a legislative proposal:
Let the teachers at each school decide if they want to arm. Couple this with school vouchers so parents can decide if they want their kids going to an armed school or gun free school. If teachers do not want to arm then parents should be allowed to volunteer.

Great platform for 2014!

I’m disgusted beyond words how these politicians are acting. Sickening. Exploiting this to death.

And weak. We have a nation of weak-kneed losers now. This event is a tragedy, but it is caused by a single deranged person. The left ridicules anyone who associates muslim terrorists with their religion, but one shooting must be associated with every gun in existence. The same types of guns have likely saved thousands of lives in the past few years, but the gun grabbers must take the opportunity to advance their agenda.

Manchin will lose his job by just talking about gun control in WV.

Bears repeating.

How about this for a simple solution to school shootings: The Connecticut (and other state legislatures) require people applying for a teaching credential to obtain a concealed carry permit. A person without a teaching credential cannot teach—PERIOD. If the teacher loses the concealed carry permit for any reason, the teach also loses the teaching credential.

***The NRA’s own boy, Harry Reid will drive this over the goal line.***

How an assault rifle ban will pass Congress. Think 1968 and 1992.

To pass gun laws you create a “crime control” bill that gives lots of money to the states for “crime control”. The Congressmen and Senators will fall all over themselves to divide up this pork while they sign away your rights.

Grassley is calling for a study, not for legislation. A “study” will reveal what we all already know.

The Demonrats are writing legislation....or already HAD it written, waiting in the wings for one of these tragedies.
