But we've had crazy people forever. We've had semi-auto weapons and high capacity magazines for over a century. Why is it then that this trend has now started and is accelerating? I believe that the violent visual media play a large part, especially when they come to serve as an alternative reality for the socially maladjusted and withdrawn schizoid personality types, as seems to be the common thread in too many of these cases.
And yes, these are available to youth in other countries, but I remain unconvinced that they are as saturated in it as are American youth. Perhaps someone can show me some studies to prove me wrong, but it seems to me that the pathology is proportionate to the time spent in these media.

In three generations, the priorities and purpose for existence have been completely changed to reflect the self-idolization that now exists.
That’s the problem with generalizations. In this case, the other problem is that they are 60% right.
I’m stuck on the “ 1 out of every 4 teen girls has an Std.” They didn’t t getty those from standing in the corner. Girls morals are not what they used to be either. Boys aren’t the only ones to blame.
BS I’m 61 and have been working since I was 12. I went to college, got married, never used drugs nor did I attend Woodstock which I’m sure you absolutely know as a fact we all did. I am so tired of the media and those that listen to them putting all Boomers into one big group of ex hippie, free love, libertines who abandoned our children while we went out to find ourselves and build our careers on Wall Street. Every Boomer I’m related to or know is just like me. Hardworking, God fearing, people just trying to make it the world while raising good kids. And the children of those people are all now in their 30’s, most are married, all are employed and most have children. So get over your Boomer envy and get a life.
You nailed it! The worst thing that ever happened to this country was the takeover of education by government. If you want to save the males, do away with the current system of education. There is no reason for schools to be run the same way they were 100 years ago, and what we need is education tailored to the individual student, not a herd of kids of the same age marching lock-step through 12 years in an institution that resembles prison more than anything else.

And middle class parents being persuaded that pre-schools are a good idea is also a disaster. Pre-schools merely teach kids to follow their peers and how to endure being bored witless by some educrat designed program.
The reason government schools exist is primarily to provide subsidized day care for working parents. If a schoo’s real purpose was to educate children, most kids would be finished with high school material long before they turned 18.

I am good friends with two baby boomers who fit the stereotype - one who was a hippie and one who went to Woodstock. The first guy is one of the most hardworking, moral people I’ve ever known and the second has gone to work for Catholic Charities and is a very decent person with an intact family. PEOPLE GROW UP.
Most of the people who caused the trouble (like William Ayers, Jane Fonda) were of a different generation.
Baby boomers that I know were the ones who saved the golden age of Hollywood - loving the movies of their youth while Generation X whined: “They’re boring. They’re too slow. They’re in black and white.” Thanks to my fellow baby boomers, I can now enjoy the great American films of the 20th Century in the privacy of my home.
And, again, let us not forget all those names on the Wall in Washington, D.C.

Maybe it is the fact that their ethnicity and gender put opportunity out of reach for them; that is how the destruction of black males was explained.

Respectful of women? Sure. Look out for them? Really? Do you work with women? They look out for themselves just fine; have sons look out for their peers.
My sons are younger, but they won’t be donning a uniform for the country that marginalizes them.

Brought to you by the generosity of Uncle Sam; it was a deliberate war on the nuclear family, and it was successful beyond their wildest dreams. Now they rue the fact that all of the “replacement families” are dark and either speak accented English or some other language altogether.
I recently went through a bank drive-through window; where they normally have lollipops for kids they now also have dog biscuits. See, the tellers (ALL “replacement Americans”) can give dog biscuits to the “American” customers for their families, while the “replacement Americans” get lollipops for their families. In 10 years they won’t need the dog biscuits anymore; those people will be ancient history (as the Lenape Indians before them in NJ).

I find that very hard to believe; I haven’t been in school in decades, but I have sons that are, and I see their peers. Just admit that females are handed a lot of advantages, and men have reacted to that by simply letting it run its course. We can have a whole nation of ditch-digging men, supervised by aging spinsters, and the culture dies and is replaced by another (or several) with no such vision of the role of females. The Hispanics, Muslims, and Hindus pouring into this country EVERY DAY are having an impact, and these people are not so “enlightened”. They are inheriting the Earth, because God will not be mocked by what the West has done with His bounty. Their children are filling our maternity wards and schoolyards, and they are winning without firing a shot. They are proving that in fact, you CAN’T HAVE IT ALL. They choose “guns” (children); Americans choose “butter” (new cars, pets).
