President Barack Obama supports U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein's effort to craft legislation to reinstate an assault-weapons ban and would also back any law to close a loophole in gun-show sales, the White House said on Tuesday.

White House spokesman Jay Carney offered some of the first specifics on how Obama intends to make good on his promise to address gun violence in the aftermath of a shooting rampage at a Connecticut elementary school that killed 26 people, including 20 children.

"It's clear that as a nation we haven't done enough to address the scourge of gun violence," Carney told reporters. He reiterated that Obama "wants to move in the coming weeks."

And we’ve had years to get ready for them. Now would be an excellent time for all RKBA folks to cut the infighting, come together, and beat this latest assault on our fundamental rights.

NRA, JPFO, GOA, CRPA, you name it. This is serious folks, but we can still win.

Too late.....some of us were not stupid when the last ban lapsed.....

I'm a little late to the party, but I'll likely have mine together before they can get around to pulling the same idiocy again.

Unfortunately, I had this terrible premonition that mine will be forever lost in a tragic boating accident. Maybe I'll be fortunate and boats will be banned before that happens.

OT: CheaperThanDirt.com is now no longer selling firearms?

I mean, I went there yesterday and looked up a gun for sale then I went back today to purchase and now they are saying that they don’t sell firearms.

Have they capitulated to the week’s chaos?

"Obama doesn’t give a damn about these dead children"

Abortion....once liberals get the taste of blood, the rest is just politics.

Exactly.

Give them what they say they want. Give it to them good and hard.

The Democrats want tax increases? Start taxing foundations. Go after Buffett and Gates’ foundation with everything that can pass scrutiny as not being a bill of attainer.

The GOP has to learn how to bare-knuckle with the environment in DC. That, of course, is going to mean getting rid of the crybaby posing as a “leader” in the House.

ANY Republican..ANY REPUBLICAN who goes along with this is done as far as I’m concerned..NO Republican should go along with this..if they are able to do this they will go after the 2nd Amendment next, and every other Amendment after that

I keep reading that there are 3 million "assault rifles" in the U.S. I would think there are far more than that.

Yep..Liberals love murdering babies in the womb but call it a “right” yet they don’t want people to own firearms even though its in the Constitution, but since the far left despises our Constitution its not a shock. They have been waiting for years sitting on their asses waiting for someone to be in the White House who despises America as much as they do

“It takes 3/4 of the state legislatures to ratify a new amendment that would vacate the second amendment. This will not happen.”

It may be something the Supremes can do. Not that it would be legal, but how do you challenge a Supreme Court decision?

Another possibility is for the House and Senate to change definitions in NFA’38 so that all semiautomatics are Articles Of War and require full NFA rules including registration and tax and local rules like a safe with 24/7 security. This was the British way- make firearms ownership so full of regulations restrictions and costs that many simply could not afford to own one.

Which reminds me, we’ve had a couple of gun store thefts around here. There must be a lot of black market “assault rifles” floating around.

It does seem odd that they had to stretch to find the right to an abortion, but they can’t find the Second Amendment in black and white.
