President Barack Obama supports U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein's effort to craft legislation to reinstate an assault-weapons ban and would also back any law to close a loophole in gun-show sales, the White House said on Tuesday.
White House spokesman Jay Carney offered some of the first specifics on how Obama intends to make good on his promise to address gun violence in the aftermath of a shooting rampage at a Connecticut elementary school that killed 26 people, including 20 children.
"It's clear that as a nation we haven't done enough to address the scourge of gun violence," Carney told reporters. He reiterated that Obama "wants to move in the coming weeks."

Progressives for years have been waiting for a moment like this so they can use to repeal the 2nd Amendment..they have been cowering in their basements hoping that something would happen that they could use..and they have a President in the White House who deplores our Constitution and wants it ripped to shreds..Obama doesn’t give a damn about these dead children, when he heard about it he probably did a cartwheel in glee that this is his opportunity to destroy the Constitution

“They” cannot repeal and amendment through the House of Representatives OR the Senate. It takes 3/4 of the state legislatures to ratify a new amendment that would vacate the second amendment. This will not happen.
This is not to say they can’t further infringe on those rights the second amendments dictates ‘shall not be infringed’... Executive Orders, waiting periods, etc. could be issued, but they have an enforcement problem. My state certainly would not help them.
Short of a dictatorship, he wont get 2/3rds of states to repeal anything.
If Obama cared about dead children, he would be a lot more careful in where he deploys armed drones in Pakistan. Obama has killed more children in 2012 than Adam Lanza. It would probably be safe to assume that Obama has killed more children in DECEMBER than Adam Lanza.
If you included children killed in abortions, then Adam Lanza's crime would disappear altogether.

If the left cared about children they would be shutting down Planned Parenthood, who has murdered more babies than any mass murderer ever could..but you can’t mention abortion because hey, according to liberals, murdering your baby is a “right” and you can do it as long as its the mother murdering that child
Now what the GOP should be doing is adding ideas to this legislation.
Restrictions on violence in movies. Killing tax breaks for movie studios that put out violent films. Going after video games. And for cryin’ out loud, go after the pharma companies.
Load it up with enough stuff that is related to the issue and the Democrats won’t pass it.
Knowing they could get the death penalty for murder isn’t enough to curtail them however knowing their weapon is illegal surely will be enough to have them rethink their plan.
