OK........I absolutely don’t get this logic. This is what you get when everyone wants to be a Problem Solver, even somebody who thinks that we landed on Mars happens to have a solution. Didn’t Virginia Tech teach anyone(ironic I know) that there should be the option to allow guns in any place of education?
And, Ms. Lee, how do we get the gunman OUT after he locks himself in behind those steel walls?
Could this woman be any more insane?
How about a 500 yard wide protected No-Man's Land or DMZ?
That would have a dual-benefit in places like Detroit where they need to demolish square miles of dilapidated housing anyway.
That is such a sad truth! I am ashamed that she is from my home state of Texas.
My son was involved in an on line discussion (college course) regarding allowing concealed carry on campus. For awhile he was the only person for - then a girl spoke up about being unable to defend herself if two men approached in the parking lot (for example) and suddenly a few of the girls in class seemed to understand that logic. Most still were too stupid to get it, but I thought it was interesting that it took quite a few comments by my son before others who favored CCL spoke out.
I am ashamed to live in the same state as sjl. Dumb morons that elect her time time after time have the IQ of a rock.

Well, SJL is obviously totally nuts, but I think a plain and simple bar that could be dropped across the classroom door to KEEP THAT DOOR SHUT would be very fast to implement, and effective. A "shooter" confronted by such a barrier is then limited to firing blindly through the door/wall/window in door.
Difficult to impossible to "shoot out the lock".
Eventually the door should be bulletproof. Put bookshelves/chalkboards along entryway walls on the sides of the door.
I fortunately have never had to suffer a politician representing me against my wishes for that long.
Maybe one day soon, you’ll get a Rep. you want. At least I hope you do.
