Isn’t it amazing that this pimp for Fannie Mae criminals, this stooge for the open borders amnesty crowd, this suck-up to the gay mafia, somehow got so many conservatives - and FReepers - to believe he was somehow one of us? I never did, and I am proud I fought this despicable fraud tooth and nail from start to finish this past cycle. Newton Leroy told me all I needed to know when he joined only 18 Rockefeller Republicans in 1978 to approve Jimmy Carter’s Department of Education. Newt is by far the most bizarre politician I’ve ever seen. His actual record is, for the most part (without getting into his personal life too much), largely conservative and effective. Half the time, his speech is as well. Its the other half the time when he’s talking and he says totally stupid stuff like this.
Newt is DC first and foremost. I don’t know that he gets invited to too many parties, but for some idiotic reason, he still has that longing to make his enemies like him. They don’t and never will, but as smart as he is, that idea totally escapes him.
If Obama can get elected and re-elected, if Obamacare can be found to be constitutional with the Chief Justice changing his vote under pressure from Obama, if Obama can fix the vote in the key states to steal his re-election, how hard is it going to be to legalize gay marriage? Newt is just stating that the fix is probably in with this Supreme Court. We can object all we want, just like abortion.
Sorry, Newt - Kansas and 28 other states forbid it. My Church forbids it. It will never be a federal issue.

Before I accept that I’d want to know what he’s really saying, which this article doesn’t illuminate very well.
If he’s saying that many more states are likely to accept and legalize homosexual marriage, I think he’s probably right. That’s just a fact.
It has always been the case that this was a state matter. So long as the citizens of Texas and Kansas aren’t compelled to legalize it, that’s fine with me. It’s the federalist and conservative position, actually. Same with abortion, which is why Roe v. Wade was wrongly decided. These are properly state matters.
