Despite rumblings from some Republican backbenchers, Speaker John A. Boehners hold on the Houses top post appears secure after key conservative lawmakers said they dont expect anyone to challenge him.
Several congressman who were booted from their committees last week have refused to commit to voting for Mr. Boehner when the House elects its speaker next year. But the discontent has not spread widely among their GOP colleagues, who generally give the Ohio Republican good marks for playing a difficult hand in the current budget negotiations.
-snip-
The four lawmakers who were booted from their committees remain angry, and they have gotten support from some conservative groups who say the purge shows why Mr. Boehner should go.
If Speaker Boehner wants to come back to my district, hes not going to be met with very much welcome, said Rep. Justin Amash of Michigan, who lost his seat on the House Budget Committee. You know, I spent a lot of time saying the stuff about, Speaker Boehners doing the best job he can do. I did that, you know, for a year, year and a half. Were not doing the best job we can do. Ive been here for almost two years its not acceptable to anyone.

Cantor is SO WEAK.....can’t stand to listen to him.
If they wont step up and challenge Him,then they should have just voted for the Bill, otherwise what the Hell is the point
Political apparatchiks are a curse on this nation.
Look, if you were right and your defeat of this bill keeps our taxes from going up in January I will admit I was wrong here.
But you should similarly show some honor (good luck) when our taxes go up in January as a result of your victory here and admit your role (with Pelosi and Obama) of your destruction of America.
“Now is the time to SMASH the GOP, send it to the ash heap, and build a genuine, grass-roots, CONSERVATIVE party.”
Good luck with that. Try to organize three conservatives to oppose a sidewalk tax in a village. Conservatives couldn’t organize a hamburger line at a picnic table.
This is a pr piece placed in this rag to scare off Challenges and support for getting rid if this k street stooge !
Its called pr by boneheads owners . The DC insiders !
This is the Washington Times, a conservative newspaper, not "a rag". Seth McLaughlin and David Sherfinski are reputable reporters and hardly "DC insiders". Try to learn about things before popping off.
“I suggest u quit making predictions. You are not very good at it.”
I agree wholeheartedly with your assessment of this troll.
I won’t go as far to call him a troll.
He has been a FR member since 1998.
i.e he has done well to last that long.
He and and a few others here just had a difference of opinion
about this particular issue.
However, he does seem to lack the ability to see how this
issue would create a backlash. Which it did.
He does not have the ability to realize that feepers here
were divided here about this issue, which meant it should
not have been a surprise to see the GOP House ended
up being divided about this issue, as well.
His irrational responses to legitimate questions pegged him to me as a mental case or an illegitimate conservative.
Or, could have just been a little, spineless greedy person who is only interested in his own personal situation rather than thinking of what is good for the country.
I think it was more sinister than that. He was trying to Who-Do conservatives by forcing them to abandon their principals and vote for a
Tax increase. Bonehead knew that if he just could get them to vote for
tax increases, most of them would not have been re-elected in 2014.
For Bonehead and Cantor and the DC Party, it was an opportunity to rid
Themselves of those Pesky Tea-party Congresscritters.
And get back to the ways of DC.
BS
Try learning about the facts of the crooked media in
Hell hole DC !
These are DC insiders who play to those on power !
So your prediction is coming true !
Paul Ryan is replacing bonehead !
Oh really? I happen to know those two reporters personally. Maybe you should remember to speak out of the correct orifice.
Dumbass...
I never predicted Paul Ryan was going to be speaker.
There is mutiny in the air. However, I do not know how the wind blows.
We shall see.
