John Kerry has written an op-ed for the Huffington Post comparing the inaction in response to a heating planet to the inaction of President Bush before September 11th.
Kerry reaches deep into the bag of global warming hysterics to uncork this piece, saying that the fate of the nation hinges upon the passing of some sort of climate change legislation.
It's ridiculously over the top, but we suppose it might get a few supporters all riled up and ready to fight for the bill this fall. Of course, it's so over the top that it might just turn off a bunch of people:
On August 6, 2001, President George W. Bush famously received an intelligence briefing entitled, "Bin Laden Determined to Strike in U.S." Thirty-six days later, al Qaeda terrorists did just that.
Scientists tell us we have a 10-year window -- if even that -- before catastrophic climate change becomes inevitable and irreversible. The threat is real, and time is not on our side.
Facts, as John Adams said, are stubborn things. Here are a few you need to know: Atmospheric carbon-dioxide levels have risen 38% in the industrial era, from 280 to 385 parts per million (ppm). Scientists have warned that anything above 450 ppm -- a warming of 2 degrees Celsius -- will result in an unacceptable risk of catastrophic climate change.
The truth is that the threat we face is not an abstract concern for the future. It is already upon us and its effects are being felt worldwide, right now. Scientists project that the Arctic will be ice-free in the summer of 2013. Not in 2050, but four years from now.

Here's a news flash for the globally-ignorant: Six thousand years ago the Arctic was ice-free year-round, there was no tundra, the taiga (boreal forest) reached all the way to the shore of the Arctic Ocean, and vast lakes of glacial meltwater covered large stretches of Canada and the northern U.S. Atmospheric temperatures averaged 3-6 o warmer than at present.
Oh, and the Sahara was a vast, well-watered grassland that supported people and grazing animals, and the Arabian Peninsula, "Arabia Felix" to the Romans in dim, distant memory of that lost time, was the Biblical Eden, the Land of Milk and Honey.
That is what "global warming" does.

Postscript: Continued global cooling (which following Pleistocene analogs will continue erratically for about another 600-1800 years) will end in a temperature crash, over the space of just five-ten years, into full-glacial dry cold, and the collapse of the earth's carrying capacity for human life. But carry on, you have your orders from the Hive Mind in Brainiac Central.
Just drag out the Carter-era whitewash of Kerry's service record that the Pentagon has been sitting on for 30 years. Go on, Congress can subpoena anything -- and they'll have to cough up, or Panetta will go to prison for contempt of Congress (could we get that lucky?).
That will be followed by a party-line vote in the Senate, which GOPsters should make as embarrassing as possible for Dingy Harry, Lurch, and Obozo.
Just one problem: Senator John Sidney McCain (R-AZ).
McCain is best buds with Kerry and strongly supports his candidacy. Which means that Lindsay Graham does, too.
We wouldn't want to soil the bi-partisan proceedings now, would we?
BS. More than likely, if the terrorists have their way, the next 9/11 will be some school in the USA. It’s been a favorite target in other countries.
Past time to upgrade security in the schools by providing schools with security professionals, and measures designed to protect students.
If having guns in schools is such a bad idea, why does Congress have security guards in our Nation’s Capital? All they need to do is to pass a law isn’t it? Just declare Congress a gun-free zone-right? It works in schools doesn’t it?/s
If gun free zones are such a good idea, how come some reporter with some brains and courage, doesn’t ask the libs to explain their hypocrisy, or are they all brain dead stupid?
Mark my words, if we don’t establish good security policies, procedures, and armed personnel in our schools, the worst is yet to come.
They’ll have to cough up? Subpoena’s haven’t worked to well with holder and F&F investigation. Nor will they work with the Bhengazi issue either. I think the info fell down and got a concussion and can’t remember anything. Wish it would work but as long as the libs pull the ol’ Stonewall Jackson on those seeking the truth, the truth will stay hidden. Sad at what this country is turning in to. I remember when our reps were supposed to work for us and at least made an attempt to look like they were.
