Looters attacked supermarkets in several Argentine cities Friday in the latest challenge to President Cristina Kirchner, who is struggling to revive a weak economy and maintain her control over the ruling Peronist Party.

What started with the ouster Thursday afternoon of a supermarket in the Patagonian resort town of Bariloche quickly spread to other parts of the country, with thousands of looters attacking supermarkets and shops in the cities of Rosario, Campana and Zárate. In the central city Rosario, two people were killed during the incidents and 137 people arrested.

>>>Sad part is, it’s a very rich part of the world in natural resources. The only thing standing in the way of good people doing well is.... once again... government.

Very true. Whenever I hear someone claim that economies require lots of natural resources in order to thrive, I always ask them to compare poor Argentina — which is rich in almost every possible kind of natural resource, to rich Hong Kong (even after 1997) — which has almost nothing.

which has almost nothing.

Hong Kong is rich in well cultivated minds. While poor in natural resources.

How do you say “Posse Comitatus” in Argentinian? (oh, wait, it’s Latin, and never mind, they don’t have such restrictions in Utopia)

From the story:

Mrs. Kirchner's cabinet chief Juan Manuel Abal Medina accused Mr. Moyano's truckers union and other union bosses of organizing the latest looting this week.

"These are isolated incidents that are clearly organized and structured. In none of them did people seek food. They took televisions and drinks," he said.

” It’s anything but a hellhole... but things certainly have taken a turn for the worse with the current socialist in power (her late husband too). It’s very sad to see actually. “

How many times have they been through this? Talk about slow learners! How many more time do they have to repeat this before they learn that the results are not going to be different?

Agreed. I've done (and do) a lot of business with Argentines ... these are very fine people. Unfortunately their "Democrats" gained a majority vote in their nation a few decades before ours did.

It will be 10x worse, and 10x more violent in the US due to multiculturalism.

Looting is not a requirement. In the USA, everything north and east qualifies as a Euro hell hole that was once called America.
