n the wake of last week's Connecticut school shooting, many in the media and on Capitol Hill blamed one powerful lobby, the gun industry, and suggested banning assault weapons would lead to safer streets.
"On the first day of the new Congress, I intend to introduce a bill stopping the sale, transfer, importation and manufacturing of assault weapons," Sen. Dianne Feinstein D-Calif., said.
On MSNBC, Chris Matthews said "people on the far-right, on the NRA front ... they go to bed at night ... afraid somebody's going to take that gun away from them. Normal people have other interests."
On CNN, host Piers Morgan called Gun Owners of America's Larry Pratt "an unbelievably stupid man."
Yet, there's another powerful lobby in Washington that few scrutinize, let alone criticize: Hollywood, though many argue the movie and video game industry also bears responsibility for incidents of adolescent violence.
"Hollywood is very touchy about the idea of taking responsibility for the stuff it actually does," Parents Television Council's Dan Isett said. "What happened in Newton is absolutely heartbreaking. It shouldn't take an instance like that to have 20 dead children that just went to school that morning, to have a real discussion about why this happened. To have a real discussion about what media does to our kids."
Not unlike the NRA, lawmakers fear the Motion Picture Association of America and their political allies. Consider the clout and fundraising acumen of producer Harvey Weinstein, a major heavyweight in Democratic politics, along with actors George Clooney, Brad Pitt, and Leonardo DiCaprio, all of whom have acted in or produced violent films.

in which you’re predicting that the Obama régime will ban high-capacity magazines rather than the guns themselves (in order to have a permanent legislation passed by Congress).
But what about wheel guns? There a lot of ‘em out there. As well as hunting rifles that do not require magazines. Besides, aren’t magazines too easy to manufacture? Any sheet metal shop or machine shop could black-market those things.
I’m not saying you’re wrong. I’m just curious about how you’d answer those points.
Go back to 1968. The movie industry made movies for all. When Bobby Kennedy was shot the MSM led the panic for controls. They blamed TV shows, comic books, pulp books, toy guns, real guns, movies.
So look at what happened.
TV shows, much milder than they are today, dumbed down to kiddie shows. Movies shown on TV were butchered to remove “violence”.
Comic books changed their covers, same for pulp books.
Toy guns disappeared and the feminization of boys began.
The 1968 GCA was passed for “control” of real guns.
But MOVIES...They convinced Congress they would “police” themselves with a rating system, G M R X back then.

Out of HOLLYWOOD poured the most sex and blood movies all protected by a rating system! Some unreleased movies were recut to add sex and blood.
Rate them R, market them to pre-tens! That was the way!
It has gotten worse since.
Magazines are the weak point, in terms of putting semi-auto pistols and rifles out of action.
Ban mags over 10 rounds, make that a felony, and voila, most semis will be useless until factories gear up to make ten rounders that cannot possibly be modified to accept more than that number.
Manufacturers won’t dare to make anything else, and “stamped sheet metal mags” are a lot harder to make than you might imagine. Can you make them? Reliable ones? If you have a friend who could make them, would he be willing to be sent to prison for making them for you? I doubt it.
Perhaps thousands or millions of gun owners will hide their full-capacity Glock or AR mags, and in the meantime, buy new ten rounders. But the full-cap mags will need to be very well hidden, since they will be the same as hiding heroin, meth, C-4 etc, in terms of prison time if you are caught.

“Very easy to make. I own a precision machine shop, that’s my wheel house. There are other manufacturers here too [in SoCal]. Perhaps they will chime in.
I would not run the risk of doing something illegal, nor would most owners. The steady supply of black market mags will most likely come from some guys in their garages, or the night shifts of some large sheet metal shops. But there will be a supply.
He didn’t address the revolver point I brought up or the hunting rifles with fixed magazines. Go back and ask him what impact is this going to have on the 1911 community. Probably the most popular semi auto handgun out there.
I’m not the smartest guy on the planet, and he might be right that thats what the legislation will look like, but the impact on gun violence and gun owners will be nil. I hope that’s what the legislation looks like. I think it’s going to be a lot worse.”
The man says that the “1911 is arguably the finest combat handgun ever designed, largest magazine they come with hold.”
Maybe you did not adress the wheelguns part of my question because those weapons are not what this Admin is worried about? I mean, one can’t wage a civil war with handguns only, right? One needs long guns, I should think.
But all the guys I shared your prediction with agreed with the relevance of your overarching concept: the Admin will try to have Congress pass a law that ban DE FACTO a large class of weapons; but that looks constitutional on paper, de jure.
