Pope says future of mankind at stake over gay marriage
The Telegraph ^ | 12/21/2012

Posted on 12/21/2012 6:14:34 PM PST by SeekAndFind

Pope Benedict XVI has weighed in on a heated debate over gay marriage, criticising new concepts of the traditional family and warning that mankind itself was at stake.

"In the fight for the family, the very notion of being – of what being human really means – is being called into question," the Pope said in Italian during an end-of-year speech.

"The question of the family ... is the question of what it means to be a man, and what it is necessary to do to be true men," he said.

The Pope spoke of the "falseness" of gender theories and cited at length France's chief Rabbi Gilles Bernheim, who has spoken out against gay marriage.

"Bernheim has shown in a very detailed and profoundly moving study that the attack we are currently experiencing on the true structure of the family, made up of father, mother, and child, goes much deeper," he said. He cited feminist gender theorist Simone de Beauvoir's view to the effect that one is not born a woman, but one becomes so – that sex was no longer an element of nature but a social role people chose for themselves.

"The profound falsehood of this theory and of the anthropological revolution contained within it is obvious," he said.

The defence of the family, the Pope said, "is about man himself. And it becomes clear that when God is denied, human dignity also disappears."

Strong echoes of the Great Tradition, particularly Leo the Great's 5th century Christmas homily:

Christian, remember your dignity, and now that you share in God’s own nature, do not return by sin to your former base condition. Bear in mind who is your head and of whose body you are a member. Do not forget that you have been rescued from the power of darkness and brought into the light of God’s kingdom.

Through the sacrament of baptism you have become a temple of the Holy Spirit. Do not drive away so great a guest by evil conduct and become again a slave to the devil, for your liberty was bought by the blood of Christ.

Bravo, Papa Benedict! He is coming on very strong on this, And backing the beatification of Paul VI, which means are-0commitment to the truth of Humanae Vitae.

It's paradoxical. This is a time of great disorientation, danger, and loss, and yet it's a great time to be a Catholic.

This is profound. I agree with the Pope.

Take this example:

Jesus speaks about the worlds of both Noah and Sodom. He had them linked in His mind in this conversation.

Luke 17:26“And just as it happened in the days of Noah, so it will be also in the days of the Son of Man:27they were eating, they were drinking, they were marrying, they were being given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all.28“It was the same as happened in the days of Lot: they were eating, they were drinking, they were buying, they were selling, they were planting, they were building;29but on the day that Lot went out from Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven and destroyed them all.30“It will be just the same on the day that the Son of Man is revealed.

What was the problem in the days before the flood? Somehow, I believe, it ties into the sin of Noah's son, Ham. It says that Ham "saw" and then Noah cursed Ham for what Ham "had done UNTO HIM".

Genesis 9:22And Ham, the father of Canaan, saw the nakedness of his father, and told his two brethren without. 23And Shem and Japheth took a garment, and laid it upon both their shoulders, and went backward, and covered the nakedness of their father; and their faces were backward, and they saw not their father's nakedness. 24And Noah awoke from his wine, and knew what his younger son had done unto him.

25And he said, Cursed be Canaan; a servant of servants shall he be unto his brethren

In Sodom the angels came to seek the righteous and ended up having to destroy the town. Before that, however, they had an encounter with the men of the city who wished to force sex upon them. That it was about sex is proved by Lot's offer of his daughters who hadn't yet had relations with men.

Gen 19:4Before they lay down, the men of the city, the men of Sodom, surrounded the house, both young and old, all the people from every quarter;5and they called to Lot and said to him, “Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us that we may have relations with them.”6But Lot went out to them at the doorway, and shut the door behind him,7and said, “Please, my brothers, do not act wickedly.8“Now behold, I have two daughters who have not had relations with man; please let me bring them out to you, and do to them whatever you like; only do nothing to these men, inasmuch as they have come under the shelter of my roof.”9But they said, “Stand aside.” Furthermore, they said, “This one came in as an alien, and already he is acting like a judge; now we will treat you worse than them.” So they pressed hard against Lot and came near to break the door.10But the men reached out their hands and brought Lot into the house with them, and shut the door.11They struck the men who were at the doorway of the house with blindness, both small and great, so that they wearied themselves trying to find the doorway.

God destroyed both of those culures, one an entire world, and one a "city of the plain" culture.

Returning to Jesus' accusation of "marrying and giving in marriage". What is wrong with marrying? Generally, nothing is wrong with it. Jesus attended at wedding at Cana of Galilee and the Apostle Paul speaks highly of marriage. And, the marriage of man and woman parallels the union between Christ and His church.

However, Ham "did unto" his father Noah while his father was naked. That culture "married and gave in marriage" in an evil form that saddened God that He had even created mankind.

God destroyed the pre-flood world for "marrying and giving in marriage."

The Pope says that the future of mankind is at stake over gay marriage.

I would think so.

2 Thessalonians: 1Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him, 2That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand. 3Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first,

When you remove motherhood through abortion and fatherhood through gay marriage you decimate the backbone of propagation of the human race (humanity). The Pope is correct.

Stolen from another site. Though it might fit here.

These homo rats want to throw out natural law as defined by our Constitution and replace it with man’s law as defined by man as subject to the state.

In that case, a strong, public rebuke of Kerry, Biden, Pelosi, et al, might be in order. Another rebuke of the 50% of the church that voted for Obama might also fit in. This is a conversation we might have to drown out “gun control” as the topic of the day. Some praise for Paul Ryan might help also, for “keepin the faith”, don’t ya know.

Men and women are NOT interchangeable. The basis of feminism is that men and women are interchangeable at will. Natural law prevails. Popular culture is transient and suicidal.

Men living with men are friends. Women living with women are friends. Sexual union cannot be achieved without risky acts of sexual perversion.

Advocates of same sex marriage conveniently fail to talk about facts such as persons with homosexuality are significantly more likely to have psychological disorders, substance abuse problems, suicidal ideation, and to have been victims of childhood sexual abuse and violence. The relationships of men attracted to men are more likely to be short-lived and are almost never faithful over time. The HIV/AIDS epidemic among men who have sex with men continues unabated and has been linked to substance abuse and sexual addiction. Men who have sex with men are also 44 times more likely to be HIV positive, and far more likely to be inflected with other sexually transmitted diseases.

Those who support same sex marriage are abrogating their responsibilities to protect the health and safety of the people they represent, not to put them at risk by supporting risky behavior.

These same politicians do not want to talk about positive statistics dealing with those who switch from same sex attraction to normal heterosexual relationships. They also do not want to talk about what kind of perversion would be next on the agenda, should same sex "mock" marriage prevail.

What's interesting, yet not widely reported by the media, is that the pope quoted a French rabbi. In his critique of the theory of “gender,” Benedict XVI said he agrees with what was written by the chief rabbi of France, Gilles Bernheim, in the "very detailed and profoundly moving" essay that he delivered last October 17 to the president and prime minister of France against the draft law for marriage between homosexuals.

A 25-page essay that can be downloaded in its entirety from the website of chief rabbi Bernheim: MARIAGE HOMOSEXUEL, HOMOPARENTALITÉ ET ADOPTION : CE QUE L’ON OUBLIE SOUVENT DE DIRE

Will ping you to another analysis provided by Fr. John Zuhlsdorf, an American priest residing in Rome.

“Gay Family” is an oxymoron.

Yes, and it is as ridiculous as “gay marriage”; I would never use those terms without quotation marks, and if speaking using the quotation marks in the air when using them. I’m not an 80 year-old ranting against this; I’m half that age and have bred children who are already shown the absurdity (and evil) of these attacks on the family.

In our lifetime (if it hasn’t occurred already), the Catholic Pope, as well as the Eastern & Orthodox patriachs, etc., will be viewed as the only representatives of true Christianity by anyone holding a serious discussion about it. Some Protestant denominations may hold similar traditional views, but they have no hierarchy to codify things and are constantly splitting into factions over them. I could never hold a serious discussion on Christianity with any “Christian” espousing female ordination, “gay marriage”, or legalized abortion - all are so openly contradictory to the New Testament as to be outright anti-Christian (while libs claim abortion isn’t in the Bible, the “babe leaping in the womb”certainly was - and nobody expressed concer about the health of the mother at the time).

Glad you brought up "natural Law," which people are so confused about, e.g. people talking about "gay" goats or penguins or bonobos, and therefor they think a male atempting to mate via another male's anus is a good and natural thing.

Clearly there´s a lot of confusion out there about sex, gender, and even "nature". The fact that something "exists" in nature doesn´t make it good.

I´m sure there are fish that eat their own spawn, spiders that eat their own mates, and canines in heat that will fling themselves against anything furry, fuzzy or firm. That doesn´t make these behaviors norms for human behavior.

"Natural Law" from an ethical point of view is that which perfects our own nature, which promotes flourishing, physical and spiritual, for the person, the family, and the society. In this sense of the word, "using your reason" is natural even if it´s aided by a computer, while "eating a poison" is unnatural, even if it grows on trees.

"Marriage" is part of Natural Law --- whether you´re a Methodist, a Mormon, a Muslim, or a reasonable Multi-culti --- because it stabilizes relations of the procreative kind, and thus unites children with their natural father and mother.

That´s where a child gets his identity --- his sense of natural origin --- his place in an organic kinship system --- and the nurturance and providence of a man and woman who will show him how to be at home in this world with men and women.

Marriage is unique. It is organically intergenerational. And it is irreplaceable.

Precisely. Natural Law gives the God-given natural rights of all people. The Left opposes natural law because they oppose the natural order of the human being that wants economic justice, which is the equal, unalienable, God-given right of each individual to his/her labored-for property in pursuit of happiness.

Samuel Adams wrote, “Among the natural rights of the Colonists are these: First, a right to life; Secondly, to liberty; Thirdly, to property; together with the right to support and defend them in the best manner they can.”

America’s Marxists are working in a full frontal attack to put the citizen as the subject of the state.
