The Rev. Jesse Jackson says the National Rifle Association's call for armed police in schools is no solution to mass shootings.
Jackson reacted Friday after the NRA's top lobbyist said armed police were the only way to stop another tragedy like last week's mass slaying at a Connecticut elementary, where a gunman killed 20 students and six teachers.
Jackson says armed police officers "couldn't compete" with an attacker with an assault weapon, and that a ban on such weapons was needed.
He says he's disappointed that the NRA "showed no remorse" and offered more guns as a solution. He says bearing arms for hunting or self-defense is different from carrying assault weapons.

He believes his neighbors are an intolerable threat. But he is smart enough to know that ridding his constituents of guns will simplify his pied piper parade to serfdom.
Mabe they should now pull all of those security guards out of Chicago schools.

There has to be more to the story ... when the left erupts in unison about something there usually is some underlying reason why they all react as they do. What is it about armed guards in schools that they all so violently disagree with?

Jesse Louis Jackson, Sr., should go back to his old tried and true mantra that thrills people such as Bob Schieffer and the popular media: “Up With Hope, Down With Dope”. But the problem was the “dope” go so popular too.
A person insane enough to shoot his own mother in the face and murder 20 innocent children is certainly capable of finding alternative weapons if guns are unavailable.
It has worked in Israel. Not one single person has died in their schools since 1974 when they started training, arming and deploying guards.
