Amid talk of reinstating the assault weapons ban that expired eight years ago, police departments nationwide are thinking of ways to confiscate such weapons.

As WCBS 880’s Marla Diamond reported, among the departments considering taking action is the NYPD. Police Commissioner Ray Kelly said if Congress were to reinstate the ban, police are wondering whether it will be their responsibility to confiscate them.

Union thugs with badges. The liberal utopia.

But you go ahead fellas, your days are numbered if you think you can confiscate 300+ guns.

80 million legal gun owners in the U.S. If even 90% of us give up our guns willingly (and I certainly doubt the number would be that high) that leaves 8 million. Where will the personnel come from to raid 8 million people’s homes?

This is a fascinating thread. A fantastic one, too. Why would anyone think there would be confrontation on their doorstep? Why would anyone expect police or military to risk messy encounters, absent a natural disaster or some catastrophe with subsequent chaos?

They don't need so much personnel. They can just drain your bank account, or freeze your assets, detain you at your job, take you into custody for a deeper discussion, take your house keys, and by the end of the day they'll have your guns, your hard drive, and your dog, dead or alive depending on his attitude.

You think it'll be tough to find personnel to loot your home? Because that's what they will do. Of course your insurance company has records of your jewelry and coin collection, right?

Gun confiscation won't be bloody, or even loud. It'll be lucrative and not at all limited to guns.

Gun confiscation won't be when they send a SWAT team, it'll be when they send an IRS agent, a Homeland Security agent, a social worker and maybe a psychiatrist. All of whom stand to profit from the adventure.

I think that was tigers point.

I was agreeing with him on some of his earlier post. It may be a good idea to post a few arms for sale in newspapers and such , but don't sell'm .

Because it has a good likelihood of happening, and the cops and Military are going to have to do it.

Which is why I have been telling people not to buy an AR in a panic. You may have to turn it in next month, or run the risk of getting killed to keep it. And your family, neighbors, dog, etc. If you have one, and are posting about how your will “Take them with me”. Just remember that is a terroristic threat, and it may be used against you. If they tell Johnny Cop or Army that “So and So made a terroristic threat on FreeRepublic on such and such a date!” they will have no issue arresting or killing you.

Cops will follow orders. Soldiers will follow orders. Don't think for one second that they won't kill you if they are ordered to do so.

Yes they do.

It is a simple plan. They know that most will comply. But they hope for an incident where they can show the bloody patrol man being pulled out, followed by his wife and kids.

Then they will push harder, and harder, till there are camps for dissidents and drone strikes on US soil.

Don’t be fooled, they know what they are going to do. And a armed flare up will only play into their hands.

Let them come and take them.

This piece of crap Obama stole the election and now wants to steal our right to defend ourselves and the rest of our rights. It is a socialist dictator.

Democrats want to empower government and to take away our individual rights and freedom.

Democrats including the media, democrat politicians, and the Obama piece of crap want to make us slaves of the government. They are enraged that we can even own any thing like land or guns or have any rights at all. They want to control everything and that’s why they want the government to own everything so then the government has absolute power.

The individual is small and powerless. The government is huge with trillions of $ at its disposal. The government has guns, armies etc. But a democrat thinks the government is not powerful enough and a democrat always wants to give more power to government and to take away power and rights from the individual. Doesn’t a stupid liberal realize that it too is an individual and are fostering their own enslavement and dis-empowerment, giving up its own rights?

liberals/democrats trust government bureaucrats ,politicians and government with their lives. Government is their God and so they are socialists/statists.

government spent trillions funding decades of fake research for the global warming hoax . this shows government/socialism never works. also around only 7% of 8th graders CAn read , 93% can’t read( again proves government schools don’t work so gov doesn’t work).Yet even here many are calling for arming the school idiots instead of abolishing the government schools completely. How about we educuate and protect our children in our homes or a private school instead of in government schools?

Better confiscate dogs as well. It’s the only way to prevent the senseless killing of dogs by cops.

I do not believe there will be confiscation because they are cowards. I side with those who say they will make ammo harder and harder to get and take their opportunities to disarm “criminals” over the next 20 years.

But how will they implement the non door to door approach to 8 million people, will they send out letters threatening freezing of assets etc?

Do they have the budget to do it?

“what will it take to penetrate one of those vehicles?”

“About a pound each of Finely ground rust and aluminum, put
in a clay pot and a piece of magnesium from a flash bulb as
a fuse”....but you’d have to approach the vehicle to do it, that way

My point was, they don’t need much of a budget. There will always be people to step up to raid unattended homes and walk off with hockables.

The government could get people who’d do it for free. Start with the welfare rolls for folks already looting under government auspices.

I think too many people underestimate the greed of the looter class and the desire to comply in the productive class.

The latter factor, however, is what will ultimately seal our fate. Taking guns from the law abiding citizen boils down to this: what matters more to these citizens, the guns or the law abiding?

Sadly, most will sacrifice their guns before they risk incurring a criminal record.

Sorry to hear about your mom’s breast cancer. My own mom is 80 now, but thankfully hasn’t ever had a sign of it. She’s pretty rickety these days, but that tongue is as sharp as ever.
