President Obama’s call for “meaningful action” to avert future mass shootings has sparked a surge in citizens looking to get guns while they still can.

Interest in concealed firearms carry permits has spiked in Monroe County and across Pennsylvania after Obama’s comments following the mass murders in Newtown, Conn. …

More people are picking up applications in Monroe County, and the sheriff’s office expects a sharp spike in applications by the end of the year and into the new year. … The jump in applications corresponds to an increase in demand for assault rifles locally. …

The meme is Americans want gun control, while tens of thousands are arming themselves.
I don't think people are really hearing the meme. Say it louder!

The louder they scream for gun control, the faster the guns fly off the shelves. Basically, every assault weapon available for purchase in America has been purchased. We aren’t talking about tens of thousands of rifles. We’re talking about hundreds of thousands, possibly millions of assault rifles being added to the civilian stockpile and the liberals have nobody but themselves to blame.

Guns are being sold in record numbers all over PA. I can only imagine it is the same way across the nation. I purchased two handguns on Friday. The shop I went to was packed with people. It was taking up to 40 minutes to get through to the State Police for a PICS background check.

I was at a family gathering last night and my wife's cousin was talking about a gun shop in Gettysburg. They broke their one day sales records each day last week until they were running out of inventory on Friday. This is a small shop and they did over $60k in business on Wednesday.

The American gun industry is actually in a crisis right now because too many of the major companies are owned by Cerberus Capital Management branch Freedom Group. This centralization puts our national gun manufacturing base at risk.

“On December 18, 2012, the company began divesting its assets in Freedom Group.”

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freedom_Group

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cerberus_Capital_Management

This means that some scoundrel like George Soros or the other leftist billionaire pigs could scoop up and destroy these gun makers quickly, probably in concert with the administration, which for its part would make so many new regulations that it would be impossible for new manufacturers to take their place.

But the solution to this crisis exists at the state level, in which states could “clear the decks”, by passing pro-gun business laws, making it easy to set up gun and ammunition manufacturing in their state.

And they should do so without delay, because all this bad stuff is rapidly approaching.

Check out the list of Freedom Group gun manufacturers, as these companies are likely already on death’s door.

And importantly, other manufacturers have likely also been undermined in parallel operations, so they could be taken out as well.

Arming yourself is about as meaningful as it gets, I think.

Thanks for the ping, P.O.E.

Something for Pennsylvanians to be aware of - the State's Constitution has an actually stronger statement on the right to be armed:

PA Constitution - Section 21.

The right of the citizens to bear arms
in defense of themselves and the State
shall not be questioned.

Also - everyone check out yefragetuwrabrumuy's post #8. The District of Communists could indeed regulate the industry out of existence in very short order. Thanks Ye.
