Stop and think - and you will realise that banning guns is a waste of time
Daily Mail ^ | 23 December 2012 | PETER HITCHENS

Ask yourself this. Even if you had a house full of guns and ammunition, would you then murder a close relative, shoot your way into a nearby primary school and massacre as many children as you could?

Of course you wouldn’t. You would have to be mad to do such a thing, and mad in a rather special way.

And if you were mad in that way, and had no gun, you might use other weapons. There are recent instances in various parts of the world of what appear to be attempted mass murder by car, or by knife.

Take what happened just over a week ago in Chenpeng village school, Henan province, in China. Min Yongjun stabbed an elderly woman before hurting 22 children (many very badly) with a kitchen knife.

The Lefties are brain-addled at a minimum to even consider confiscation. I think this same demented thinking keeps them from truly considering exactly how they will do it. With other laws, the populace just obeys ... even with something as heinous as Obamacare, where we have given up control over our own bodies and are allowing the government to make the decisions about or limit the care we receive that likely will determine if we live or die, we submit and go along with it. I do believe that the Lefties think if they ban guns and “confiscate” them, that the populace will march like lemmings to the police stations and give them up.

Of course, they will be very, very wrong - the Lefties have grabbed the straw that will break the camel’s back and start CWII, in my opinion.

There are discussions now going on about reigning our 1st Amendment rights and also about confiscating 401s, pensions, etc.

Then, they will pass a law requiring you to turn in your legal firearms.

I am not saying that it can not happen. I am asking how will they enforce it? Do you think all those Red State Governors are going to comply any more then liberal Governors comply with our immigration laws? Do you expect my local sheriff to show up at my house if I don't willingly turn in my weapon? If he did he would know me by name.

My only point is that there is the possible and then there is the practical. Yes, if we continue to elect liberals to national office then we eventually will lose the Supreme Court and potentially have things turn against us. Even then, while some may comply there will be many willing to die. After the second or third incident we have the makings for one significant revolt.

I could be wrong. Just saying ...

Try reverse psychology, make it a mandatory federal law that everyone must be armed 24/7, anyone resisting the law subject to federal prison.

Then see what happens.
There is some townships that actually have such laws, should be applied to more places.

I don’t understand any American wanting to take away one of the rights we have.

It's no American; it's Barack Obama.

So carrying a gun 24/7 makes me Wonder Woman? How is this any different from the whacko’s mother who kept guns in the house, knowing her son was mentally ill and dangerous? I would be willing to bet that many of the victims of domestic violence have been stealthily killed with a weapon (i.e. club, axe, poison, drugs) that can not easily be traced and identify the assailant. How many women just suddenly disappear - while ex husband claims innocence or “there must have been an accident” - and then her body is found weeks later strangled, stabbed, etc? If my marriage had a history of domestic violence, #1 I would get out, and #2, until the time I leave, I would certainly NOT keep a gun in the house only to have it used on ME.

You raise some good points, most importantly, that this would require a local police force to enforce a federal law. But, the important thing to remember is this. You cannot use logic to deal with gun control. Liberals believe, on a theological basis, that anything that results in fewer guns is good. They believe this just as a Catholic believes that the Pope is infallible. It is an article of faith which no logic will change. But back on the need for local police. Many liberals hold the position that since good gun owners comply with the law, all they have to do is pass a law requiring gun turn in and good owners will comply. The rest will be criminals and a few show trials will convince the rest.

Obama won re-election.

The character of America has changed.

Those with roots in freedom are being replaced with those who know nothing of our once-sacred traditions.

There will be no CW2. There aren’t enough of us left to fight.

why won’t our government examine the linkage between drugs and mass murders?

Follow the Benjamins.

If your deranged husband wants to kill you while you’re living together, he’ll find a way...gun or no gun. I’m talking about women who have already separated from or divorced their husbands and are living apart from their exes. My wife is more than a little afraid of her first husband and is glad I’ve got a gun in the house. She even asked me about the possibility of getting one for herself. And before she met me, she was extremely anti-gun. Moreover, she’s a very small woman, and her ex would have no trouble killing her without a firearm.

48% voted for the other guy, and a LOT didn’t bother to vote at all.

Hardly represents a majority in my book.

Yes,he won the election, but it was no blow-out endorsement and Romney was as much to blame for Obama’s victory as Obama and the left.

Look at the difference caused by decades of dumbing down our population. When trying to outlaw alcohol, keeping in mind there is no fundamental right to imbibe, elected officials went so far as to create a Constitutional Amendment. Today they’ll remove the rights to property, speech/religion/though, and self-defence/armed resistance with a simple majority vote.

There are those in government and media now that are discussing taking a way 1st Amendment rights. They want to start with Conservative talk radio and they have already taken away the rigts of those who would protest the President in his presence, of course this won’t mean anything if there is ever a Conservative or another Republican President.

You’re right, they have dumbed down the population, there are those who believe this President can do whatever he wants and he is obliging them as he has no respect for our laws and Constitution.
