Mitt Romney didn't want to be president, anyway.
That's what Tagg Romney, Mitt's oldest son, told the Boston Globe for its big post-mortem on his father's failed presidential bid published on Sunday.
He wanted to be president less than anyone Ive met in my life," Tagg Romney told the paper. "He had no desire to ... run. If he could have found someone else to take his place ... he would have been ecstatic to step aside.

” He destroyed several good candidates on his way”
Many conservatives said they supported Mitt because he had the best chance to win.
I wonder if Newt would have been better at attacking O and making the conservative case.
If we were going to lose anyway, why not put up someone who could have slammed O.
That is an extremely intersting theory.
It does fit the timeline and the events as they happened.
The fact that he or someone close to him would even say this, true or not, is PATHETIC
If we have seen one thing from the leftist, Alinsky, community-activist set - it is that they never stop, never give up, and will use any method to win.
That is so moronic. Gingrich was making traction at the debates, and Romney’s people used their tons of money to negative ad Gingrich to death. By your deeds we shall know you. So cut the crap that he really did not want to be POTUS. He campaigned and lost, cut the excuse.
Maybe the Romney boy should get together with the fat McCain girl.
As Jefferson saw, when you have a whole lot of single member districts around you gotta' get 50%+1 vote to win. If you form a political party dedicated to winning, the losers will get together and form their own party and they too will seek 50%+1 vote.
Third parties get squeezed out in that mix.
You have to start a new party the way the Republicans did it originally. You take over whatever operating elements you still have ~ which are those state parties ~ AND you create a new party central committee and ask them to send representatives for the purpose of running a President.
Where you have disfunctional state elements, you replace them with other interested groups ~ the Republicans brought in the Abolitionist Movement ~ which had almost become a party but didn't.
There should already be action afoot in the state committees to deal with the RNC, RNC Senate and RNC House committees. I would expect a very good representation there from TEAParty elements.
Serious concern must be given this time to terminating some state parties ~ they don't win, their candidates are all stupid, and if they get an appointed Senator he or she will be a RINO.
No more RINOs ~ their time is over.
I’m guessing Gary Johnson.
Then, too, they'd have no common sense and in a decade their lawyers would have all the money!
If you postulate the dems and GOP really are the same party trying to demoralize us and instil globalism, it makes perfect sense.
Perhaps Alex Jones is only half crazy afterall.
May I have my 300.00 back, you SOB!
You have chosen poorly. Again. It DOES NOT MATTER. Romney took AZ and my vote was meaningless. As was yours it turns out.
Remember one thing.
The infrastructure...aides/secretaries/all of it is hardcore GOP and contains a lot of Mercinary types that have worked for Dems. Again, They have worked for dems. And the last thing they want is a meal ticket altered. Count on them sabotaging any new management.
So you have a powerless party filled with untrustworthy people that has the unjust albatross of racist old white guy around its neck.
You SURE you want to waste the minimal resources the tea party has by comparison?
Then add in all the traditional GOP moneymen fighting you tooth and nail to throw you out.
FAR mor logical to start over. The GOP did it to the Whigs.
The die was cast no matter who was the Republican Candidate. They made Romney, a Moderate, look like Attila the Hun because he wanted people to get Jobs. Liberals don't want Jobs, they want a Sugar Daddy and Obama fills the bill.
They would have convinced the Sheeple that any other Republican Candidate was the love Child of Hitler and Stalin. The Liberals own the Press and they decide what to report. We didn't have a chance.
The simple fact is that there are more of “them” than us, period. If there was ever a chance for people to open their eyes, it was the 2012 Election. It didn't happen and blaming Romney, based on his kid's stupid remark of all things, is completely absurd.
Wish in one hand and spit in the other and tell us which fills up first. The Republic as we knew it is OVER. Now we deal with the fallout and take care of our own.
“The Republic as we knew it is OVER. Now we deal with the fallout and take care of our own. “
On that, I am in total agreement.
You got that right - I watched the 3rd Party debate on C-span - very interesting. If I had to choose one of those people, it would have been old Virgil.
It’s all we have left Norm. God Bless us one and all.
Merry Christmas...
And to you and yours.
But as bad as it is, it’s still better than being a liberal so all isn’t lost yet ;)
Just finished reading the lengthy “post-mortem” on the Romney campaign in today’s Boston Globe. Talk about a bunch of losers—literally and figuratively. Romney’s political director claims he didn’t know what Obama was doing with his massive paid staff in the swing states until after the election. If you look up “idiot” in the dictionary, you’ll see the picture of the man who made that comment (Rich Beeson in the margins.
Republicans once knew how to organize and win presidential campaigns. Now, we’ve got our own generation of Bob Shrums, trying the latest variant of the Rove playbook.
Newt Gingrich said it well the other day: the GOP is heading for permanent minority status if they don’t get their act together. A lot of us remember the bad old days of Bob Michel and less than 150 GOP members of the House. And sadly, Mr. Michel saw nothing wrong with that; he enjoyed his friendship with Tip O’Neil and Danny Rostenkowski, and they played him like a fiddle.
Morons like “Team Romney” are just another example of how much we miss Lee Atwater. His tragic, early death was an absolute disaster for the GOP.
