A back-in-the-day soda shop in St. Paul has been busted for selling cigarettes -- made of candy.
Lynden's, on Hamline Avenue near Cretin-Derham Hall High School, said a city inspections official came in last week and gave the shop a warning and added that a misdemeanor citation -- with a $500 fine -- would be next if the non-carcinogenic confections continue to be sold.
"We got busted [Dec. 19] by the City of St. Paul. Oops," the shop tweeted.
Candy cigarettes, bubble gum cigars and bubble gum made to look like chewing tobacco have been among a host of vintage sugary treats that Lynden's has kept in stock since it opened in April.

Selling kids candy that looks like cigarettes is a no no, but teaching them about buggery in school is OK.
Must leftists stick their noses into every thing in life?
Their antics have gotten so old and stale; they do the same crap over and over; only the date changes.
An ideology that hasn’t developed in a century or more.
Maybe someone should argue that it is indeed a religion. That would really mess with their heads.
I’ve eaten my fair share of candy cigarettes but have never smoked a real one. Same with lots of my childhood friends. Once again, some lame study is proven invalid. Quick, hide the Little Debbie Zebra cakes, animal crackers and gold fish crackers before PETA starts filing suit.
“Somebody from Bloomington called and reported us,”
This is what it has come to in this country. A nation of snitches.
I recall the candy cigs that you blew thru and a fine powered “smoke” issued forth.
I also remember the “candy”...and chalk has a better flavor. ;)
I ate gummy worms...next thing I know I’m eating real worms.
IIRC, they came in two flat sheets, like a pack of course, and you were supposed to be able to break them apart into single “cigarettes”, but this was hard to do. We would end up just munching on them, and they were strictly a novelty.
I can picture all this very clearly.
leftists on local newspaper sites were defending this by claiming the idea just proves politicians are dumb. I had to point out that the city council is all democrats.
It’s a gateway candy.
We used to chew the bubble gum cigars, but smoke the banana peels...
The PC world looks at everyone but themselves, the hypocrites extraordinaire.
I didn't get the full pleasure of the 'smokes' till dad introduced me to Schiltz.
Otherwise cannibalism may run rampant!
He should get some candy guns to make them go apoplectic.
Have they also banned the sale of root “beer” and giner “ale” to minors?
Tell the authorities that it’s marijuana not tobacco. They will allow it then.
