Ed Markey to run for Kerry’s Senate seat
Washington Post ^ | December 27, 2012 | Rachel Weiner

Posted on 12/27/2012 4:28:18 PM PST by ConservativeStatement

Markey, 66, has served in the House since 1976 and is the dean of the Massachusetts delegation. The veteran House member announced his decision in a statement, saying, “There is so much at stake.”

“I refuse to allow the Tea Party-dominated Republican Party to lead us off the fiscal cliff and into recession,” Markey said. “I won’t allow the NRA to obstruct an assault weapons ban yet again. I will not sit back and allow oil and coal industry lobbyists to thwart our clean energy future or extremists to restrict women’s rights and health care.”

of course conservatives should run as democrats...its the only way to confound the 47+%.

I said in Nov that the ONLY way for conservatives to gain a foothold from now on is to infiltrate the Democrat Party.

Republicans are going to have a hard tome winning a Federal election in the face of the famous 47% for the foreseeable future.

If Scott Brown switched party's, NONE of the 47% would notice since they haven't a clue about freedom and liberty...all they care about is their free stuff.

He is an idiot and the word backbencher was invented for him. Every few years he’ll chirp about global warming or some other eco-nonsense

Markey is a Marxist moron and that’s why he will crush Brown in MA. The majority of people in MA are Marxist morons but they are too stupid to even know what they are. Just put a ‘D’ behind the name and a child predator could be elected in that state.

“New England is a toilet bowl. Sadly.”

And their “transplants” have managed to crap up the West Coast States. Washington, Oregon and California used to be wonderful places to live until the New England Maggots came here in search of something to destroy after so completely trashing their “fatherland.”

He certainly fit a lot of boogeymen into that short paragraph. Too paranoid to be fit for public office.

Markey, 66, has served in the House since 1976

And that is why they need to have term limits. Since 1976...really? :::sigh:::

Markey reminds me of our own WA flaming liberal...Jim (I record illegally) McDermitt....but even ol’ Jim hasn’t been in office as long as Markey.

They need to retire to spend more time w/ their families.

He certainly sounds like a typical radical liberal Senator from Mass. Has he killed anyone in his car yet or shot any wounded soldiers?

I am sure the Mass. voters will vote him in.

They wouldn't take it back. What we really need to get rid of is Boston and New York.

Like Kerry and his dory docked in Rhode Island to avoid Massachusetts taxes, Markey is in-state so infrequently that his neighbor checks on his mail.

Both "game the system" like well-practiced dim-0-crats.
