Facebook bans Gandhi quote as part of revisionist history purge
naturalnews.com ^ | December 27, 2012 | Mike Adams

(NaturalNews) The reports are absolutely true. Facebook suspended the Natural News account earlier today after we posted an historical quote from Mohandas Gandhi. The quote reads:

"Among the many misdeeds of British rule in India, history will look upon the Act depriving a whole nation of arms as the blackest." - Mohandas Gandhi, an Autobiography, page 446.

This historical quote was apparently too much for Facebook's censors to bear. They suspended our account and gave us a "final warning" that one more violation of their so-called "community guidelines" would result in our account being permanently deactivated.

They then demanded we send them a color copy of a "government issued identification" in order to reactivate our account. Our account was removed from suspension just minutes before InfoWars posted its article on this Facebook censorship, and the Facebook page is now functioning

Facebook doesn’t seem to have a problem with pro-homo, Christian hating posts.

They'll probably ban this one too.

The wages of Utopian fascism are about to be demanded by
anti constitutional kooks like Facebook.

Do not pay them a single cent or farthing....simply expose them and ridicule them. The battle lines will be drawn soon enough, and the fight for the heart of America and its Constitution will begin against these fascists.

This story needs more depth. What are Facebook’s “community guidelines” and how do they affect a historical quotation?

Also, is this censorship above and beyond taking off something violent, illegal, or extremely vile regarding individuals or groups?

I don’t know. Won’t touch Facebook for personal reasons. Too easy to penetrate according to techies.

What legal remedies does NaturalNews have because there apparently is a “contract” involved in using Facebook? Has this contract been violated by Facebook, and if so, how?

I’m basically opposed to most censorship so, as a journalist, I’m interested in what is going on behind our backs on the internet, one of the last true bastions of free expression.

I wonder if they would have any problems with Mohandas Gandhi quotes about how Hitler’s enemies were just as bad as he was because they fought back.

Maybe they only monitor certain groups and not individuals.

Try reading their Global Governance Vote Results! Nobody voted because they did not put it on their homepage. Your info is being sold as you post.
FB is the Nazi Germany of the Internet... That goes for kids on instagram as well.

I had a FB account, found out they tracked you constantly, always knowing what you are doing on the web, what you buy.

I no longer have the account active, or so they say.

Why would Natural News or any other person or organization think they would have free speech respected or recognized on someone else's private web enterprise?

What is more alarming is the death of history. Once, 'history' is all digital, the ease for revision and change becomes complete. Nothing like controlling the digital printing press.

Once 'print' is dead, alas...

"I do not want to see the allies defeated. But I do not consider Hitler to be as bad as he is depicted. He is showing an ability that is amazing and seems to be gaining his victories without much bloodshed. Englishmen are showing the strength that Empire builders must have. I expect them to rise much higher than they seem to be doing." - Mohandas Gandhi

Letter to Rajkumari Amrit Kaur, regarding the military situation between England and Germany (May 1940), quoted in Collected Works (1958), p. 70.

Most likely there’s an anti-Hindu fanatic at Facebook that keeps his eyes open for quotes by Ghandi or other Indian notables.

There are a lot of serious misquotes on Gandhi out there. And even if he did say ‘lay down your arms’ it was from a perspective that I don’t believe most would have at all times.

“I do not want Britain to be defeated, nor do I want her to be victorious in a trial of brute strength, whether expressed through the muscle or the brain. Your muscular bravery is an established fact. Need you demonstrate that your brain is also as unrivaled in destructive power as your muscle? I hope you do not wish to enter into such an undignified competition with the Nazis. I venture to present you with a nobler and a braver way, worthy of the bravest soldier. I want you to fight Nazism without arms, or, if I am to retain the military terminology, with non-violent arms. I would like you to lay down the arms you have as being useless for saving you or humanity. You will invite Herr Hitler and Signor Mussolini to take what they want of the countries you call your possessions. Let them take possession of your beautiful island, with your many beautiful buildings. You will give all these, but neither your souls, nor your minds. If these gentlemen choose to occupy your homes, you will vacate them. If they do not give you free passage out, you will allow yourself, man, woman and child, to be slaughtered, but you will refuse to owe allegiance to them.

“This process or method, which I have called non-violent non-co-operation, is not without considerable success in its use in India. Your representatives in India may deny my claim. If they do, I shall feel sorry for them.

Open letter, “To Every Briton”, New Delhi (2 July 1940); published in Harijan (6 July 1940)

Could be fun playing with their mind(s) - post some ridiculous stuff to see how they’d react, then post it here.
