Unfortunately it’s not as easy as federal funding - they used the interstate commerce clause on this one. Somehow they decided that these cats have a substantial affect on interstate commerce.

Laura Bush had one of those 6 toed cats. I think they called him Ernest. They sent him to live in CA when they moved to the White House because they said that he was too incorrigible for White House living.
