Obama NOT Offering 'New' Fiscal Cliff Proposal, Could Demand Up-Or-Down Vote On Plan
Business Insider ^ | 12/28/2012 | Brett LoGiurato

Contrary to reports earlier in the day, President Barack Obama is not offering a "new" proposal to avert the year-end fiscal cliff during a meeting at the White House today.

Rather, Obama is reiterating previous positions on income-tax rates and other components of the cliff, Reuters reports.

He will ask Congressional leaders at the meeting for a concrete counterproposal. If there is none, he will ask for an up-or-down vote on his plan in Congress.

At 3:10 p.m., Obama began his meeting at the White House with Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, House Speaker John Boehner and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi.

The meeting comes after a frantic day in fiscal-cliff negotiations on Thursday, during which reports of a new offer from President Obama to Senate Republicans was quickly shot down by the White House and Democratic aides.

Boehner also called the House back for a rare Sunday session. Boehner spokesman Brendan Buck said last night that Boehner plans to push his message that the onus is now on the Senate.

"Speaker Boehner will attend a meeting with congressional leaders at the White House, where he will continue to stress that the House has already passed legislation to avert the entire fiscal cliff and now the Senate must act," Buck said.

The champion of the “middle class.”

So we’re all rich now, even the fools who thought they were going to get more free stuff now get a tax tack hammer to the teeth.

**
Oh, YEA — I can just see it now — more tax evasion than you can shake a stick at.

One question...will the “poor” still receive their earned income tax credits?

John W ~:” Of course there is no “plan” just positions on a couple issues.”

Exactly !!
Both of the positions will take us closer to the brink of bankruptcy
And the Press / Lamestreamedia will back HIM , and not logical thought.
And the Republicans will end up fighting amongst themselves in complete disaray
He doesn’t want resolution ~ he wants CATASTROPHY
It’s HIS way ,.. or the highway (adolescent behavior / tantrum )

The tip off of the plan was when Hary Reid complained that Boehner was operating a “dictatorship’ on the issue.
Harry should be the last one to call someone else a dictator !!

Counter with

- Eliminate Bush tax rate reductions

- Balanced Budget Amendment to Constitution

Once budget amendment is passed, then increase tax rates.

And, yet again, the pubbies hand over control of the conversation to the pretender and his minions.

Boehner hasn’t got the spine to do what needs to be done, and the rest of the pubbie cabal enable his weakness.

Pass a damn BUDGET, balanced to anticipated receipts (NO deficit). Pass a bill to make permanent the current tax rates, including the capital gains rates. Eliminate the inheritance tax.

Put those in place in the House. Call a press conference, and hand them over to the Senate for their (democrat controlled) action. Make a huge show out of it. Talk up the fiscal responsibility of the bills, and the fact that this is the best medicine for our irresponsible government spending.
Keep pubbie after pubbie in front of TV cameras and Radio microphones everywhere, all singing the same tune, “Here you go, Democrats. Now, the Senate can do an up-or-down vote for Zero and the 0bamunists.”

Keep the heat on the socialists. Make them the bad guy. Answer EVERY argument, with the facts and the truth...but, ANSWER EVERY ONE.
Stay in front of the cameras, in the press, on the radio. If the commies want a fight, then GIVE THEM A FIGHT.

Why do I have this sinking feeling that no one in a position of influence has the stomach for this fight?

I think that very darned little ever reaches the “frantic” stage in Washington.

I hope Boehner and the pubs don’t cave. If they are going to be “blamed” for something, might as well make it worth their while.

I’m not holding my breath, naturally. Besides, the actual “deal” will occur after New Year and be retroactive at least in some parts, IMO.

He wants the country to go over the cliff, then sit back while the Republicans get blamed. If it turns out that people start blaming him instead, he’ll come to the table with a serious offer.

It’s as simple as that.

It’s very hard for most people who are not attuned to accept that, but maybe, maybe, eventually they’ll see the truth.

Its really disheartening to watch the pundints, even on Fox, prattle on and on about, "If only he would do such and such...things would get better." WAKE UP! He doesn't want things better. He wants them worse to the extent that the country collapses and in the midst of the chaos the all powerful Government can step in and take over total control. Its an old tactic that has worked before in dozens of nations on millions of willing morons. BOHICA!

This suggests a way the pubs could get to Obama: Reject his pretensions to kingship. Quit attending his press conferences, cancel the SOTU, don’t take his midnight phone calls, call BS on his BS - retaliate in a word. It will drive him crazy and he will start acting crazy.

He wants - needs - far greater federal revenue. Being a Leftist, he cannot conceive of any other way than to raise taxes. The “soak the rich” meme is palatable to the public but insufficient to his goals. An amazing opportunity has appeared: everyone’s taxes will rise and be can blame it on his opponents! Lots of new revenue and political capital acquired. Just fake negotiations, and get stuck with just what he wanted.

Follow the money.

Tell BHO and the DemoNazis to go away. We can’t afford to go with their lame plan or lack thereof.

The first thing that needs to be done is to tie the Debt Ceiling to whatever deal that is to be done. Second, tax cuts to bring spending back to 2007 levels, and third extend the tax rates as they currently are. That should fix the economy.

The GOP needs to realize they are currently in a position of strength.

Failure is defined by goals. His goal of bringing this country to its knees while the GOP gets the blame is his goal.
*******
You’re right of course. The Blamer-in-Chief’s agenda is to deconstruct this once great country. And I would add that he has a still powerful media propaganda machine helping him do it. It’s also quite obvious that he is purposely dividing the country so in that sense I would argue that he has sown the seeds of his own failure — to achieve his malevolent schemes. IMHO a severely polarized and divided country will shatter into a completely disfunctional and unmanageable state. What happens when, inevitably, there’s not enough makers left to take care of the legions of demanding takers? It’s not going to be the happy ending Obama envisions.

Thanks. I’m thankful that Obama lacks real leadership and mangement skills. If he had them, he could do a lot more damage to the country. He’s just a radical community organizer recklessly sowing the seeds of his own destruction IMO.
