A male suspect was shot and killed by the person he was trying to rob, Miami Gardens Police said.

The suspect was attempting to rob the victim and shot him at least one time, Miami Gardens Police Capt. Ralph Suarez said.

“The victim went to the ground but was able to retrieve his own weapon and shot the offender several times,” Suarez said. “The offender died at the scene,” outside the Rainbow shop at NW 19925 NW 2nd Ave., he said.

The police are here to enforce the law and not protect and serve anymore.

Another thug with a gun who didn’t obey the law. Gee, what a surprise. Maybe we should pass more gun laws. (/sarcasm)

There is no word, yet, on what caliber the victim used or how well he aimed, but between caliber, shot placement, and number of shots, he got the job done. America owes this gun owner our prayers and our gratitude.

As long as the victim was not a white Hispanic, he should be okay.

Police are nothing but forensic reporters with sidearms.

That’s a good outcome. One more “downtrodden oppressed” victim is prevented from waltzing in and taking what is “rightfully” his from an “evil oppressor.”

I think this is the real reason the Democrats are so anti-Second Amendment. A lot of their voters are being “taken out” because of it.

This robbery was interesting in that (it is suggested), that he demanded the gold chain then shot his victim in the leg, before the victim returned fire.

I suspect the victim went for his cc too early. In doing so he lost many of the advantages of cc.

Even those this is a rather glib scene, it does convey a good example of the advantage of cc, even over a brandished, cocked gun pointed at you.

What you look for in this are first that the robber has to pay attention in all directions, and is intent on getting the victim’s stuff and getting away, not killing (usually). If he intended to kill and then take stuff and leave, he would initiate by shooting, not talking.

The guy with the cc has the single intent of drawing and firing. He can do so whenever the robber is distracted, even when the robber has his stuff and has turned around to go. Which is the best time to shoot them.

Ideally, the victim would have done a center of mass double tap, as a minimum, continuing to fire and not making the mistake of “pausing for damage assessment” of the robber. The robber is not “safe” until he is down and not moving and his gun is a yard or two away from him.

Had the “victim” not had his firearm, he likely would be dead, and the police would just add his name to the list of cold cases that they can’t seem to solve...

Or even best-case, the perp is caught and serves a sentence at taxpayer expense...

Yes, he would be dead.

And the papers would report it on p. 14 at the bottom because it’s becoming so common.

That guy is my hero— and deserves kudos for killing his attacker.

I think it’s the Cato Institute that has a long thread up of REAL examples of people using guns to defend themselves and their loved ones. I’ll have to dig around for it.

If that, if a plea bargain is involved: "Sentenced to time served."

Best line in any crime report: “The offender died at the scene,”.

Thanks! I found it immediately after I logged of. Here is the so-called white paper report, which is excellent. The first-person, heartwarming stories of using guns for self defense are wonderful:

On January 21, 2009, Gabriel Flores, 17, “kicked in the door of a home” in Dallas, Texas, and provoked a deadly response. While Flores was inside, the adult son of one of the homeowners happened to show up to drop off a newspaper. The son confronted Flores. Flores drew a gun and fired at the son—but the son, who has a concealed handgun license, drew his gun, shooting and killing Flores.

On May 5, 2010, a St. Louis man was robbed at gunpoint—but “fought back and shot the robber to death.” The victim was walking down the street at 8:40 p.m. when a 20-year-old robber demanded his wallet. The victim turned over his wallet—but while the robber was going through the wallet, the victim drew his handgun and shot the robber to death.
