“You avoid anything that doesn’t fit your progressive view.”

My view does not neatly fit on a two-dimensional axis. I’m mostly quite conservative, on such matters as the 2nd Amendment and government spending. That doesn’t mean I’ll degrade superior ideas or technologies on a knee-jerk basis.

“For the third time: Edisons electric car was a hot item in 1912. This is 2012.”

‘This is 2012.’ You are a bonafide genius. Do you suppose electric car technology has improved at all in 100 years? Did Edison’s car do 0-60 in 4.4 seconds? Did it have a top speed of 130 MPH? Could it go 300 miles on a charge?

I’m not completely sold on them, but neither am I willing to abandon them based on farcical thinking. More importantly, I think Musk was shamelessly maligned in this article by shoddy “journalism”.

“Electric cars were abandoned for a better idea.”

At the time it seemed a better idea. 100 years later? Maybe not.

“And Tesla is NOT capitalism. Capitalism is using your own money or investors. Progressive liberals (COMMIES) suck the public teat.”

Everyone taking a tax break is “sucking at the public teat” by your definition. Perhaps we should eliminate the mortgage interest credit, lest all who take it “suck at the public teat”. Think of the poor! /sarc

Further, this was a loan, not a gift. Save your vitriol for the hypothetical time the debt isn’t paid. All signs are that it will be paid promptly with the requisite interest.

“The fact is that you are praising him for using the force of the government to take money from others, thereby growing the size of government and destroying the economic liberties of those taxed to create his largesse. You obviously don’t have a clue as to what your own screen-name means... “

He did not “take money from others”, he took a loan. IF he doesn’t pay it back, you would have more of a point... The overall size of government is largely disjoint from any individual issue, no? On that front, the powers that be are 1000x more culpable than Elon Musk.

I’m all for liberty, at the same time I’m sensitive to the practicalities of the moment. Sometimes it’s better to run away, and live to fight another day. Other times, it’s just better to just shoot ‘em in the head. ;-)

Happy New Year!

Further, this was a loan

The government has NO business giving OR loaning taxpayer money to corporations. True capitalism is that you make it or break it on your own. If Musk is REALLY worth $2 Billion let him use HIS money. Apparently he feels Tesla is inferior and won't risk his money.

Annals of Congress, House of Representatives, 3rd Congress, 1st Session, page 170 (1794-01-10)
The Annals summarize speeches in the third person, with the actual text of Madison’s quote as follows: “Mr. Madison wished to relieve the sufferers, but was afraid of establishing a dangerous precedent, which might hereafter be perverted to the countenance of purposes very different from those of charity. He acknowledged, for his own part, that he could not undertake to lay his finger on that article in the Federal Constitution which granted a right of Congress of expending, on objects of benevolence, the money of their constituents.”

“Annals of Congress, House of Representatives, 3rd Congress, 1st Session, page 170 (1794-01-10)”

That’s nice, but in the ensuing 300 years, things have changed. Should they change back? I’m generally supportive, but let’s inject a bit of reality into the discussion. ;-)

Income tax was only added 100 years ago, that seems a much better starting point... ;-)

Good luck, I’m behind you 100%.

So you aren’t really a conservative and believe in government meddling where it shouldn’t, correct?

Nope, not correct. Thanks for playing though.

“I try to stick to just the facts,”

No, you don’t and you didn’t.
Your first post in this trhead was insulting.
Then you continued to insult and ignore everything posted to you.

“I was called a liar”

And you are a liar.
You said “The fact is” then you claimed “I never said that”
It is in black and white, and everyone reading teh trhead can see it.
Besides which, you kept ON insulting people ratehr than responding to points put forth.
You lied about “sticking to the facts”.
So you are a multiple repeat liar.

“(which was complete BS btw) before y’all got torched.”

Another outright lie.
You came into this thread with insults.
And you kept insulting before you were caught lying and had it pointed out.
Do you REALLY want the post numbers pointed out?

And if Musk really IS worth that much you have just AGAIN proven me correct that he is a parasite.
You have illustrated yet again that he doesn’t need ANY taxpayer money for his project.
Capitalism is assumed risk, and by using taxpayer money he has put the risk onto US instead of himself.
By moving the risk to the taxpayer, he has gone from capitalism to vulturism.
At least we the taxpayer got a nice 17 million dollar mansion for our efforts.

“That’s nice, but in the ensuing 300 years, things have changed. “

So you think the Constitution is outmoded and outdated eh?

“Good luck, I’m behind you 100%”

No you aren’t.
You believe the Constitution is outmoded and outdated, that things have changed that invalidate the Constitution.
You’re also on the wrong forum.
This is a Conservative forum.

You are a prime example of the reason this country is sliding into socialism.

Your combination of ignorance and downright thickheadedness is utterly breathtaking. You’ve consistently fail to comprehend simple English. Repeating the same incorrect points gains you nothing.

My earlier points stand, I’m done wasting my time here.

Good luck in life, you’ll need it.

The overall size of government is largely disjoint from any individual issue, no?

Yeah... and no single raindrop thinks it's responsible for the flood.

Obviously the term "principle" has no meaning for you. I don't care how many other businessmen are doing it. If it's wrong, it's wrong. And taxing others to provide loans you can't get from actual investors is wrong. Period.

How typical of you, as you have entered this thread, so shall you exit it.
You have proven that YOU don’t understand simple English.
You entered this thread with insults.
You lied, got caught, and didn’t like being caught.
What to do?
Oh yeah, LIE SOME MORE.

And you never once really addressed any points made to you.
Why is that?
Is it because, oh gosh, you CAN’T?
Could it really be that simple?
You pretend to be so intellectual and smart, but cannot address simple points made to you?
Not without claiming socialistic BS is capatalism [post 39 and otehrs folks!] or proving that Elon Musk is a parasite by praising his prowess at getting taxpayer money [post 39 yet again] and by repeatedly stating how much more than 465 million he is worth?
Which goes to prove my point that he didn’t need teh money to begin with?
Is it truly that simple, that you cannot address any of it without lies or insults?

The fact is, yes.
It is that simple.
