Your honor, I was forced to rob that bank so that my income "remains equitable" with that of my neighbors....

Spain said it hoped “the process of assessing the value of the nationalized company is done with high standards of objectivity that would establish the just compensation to which shareholders are entitled.”

And if the compensation isn't enough, Spanish citizens will find themselves taxed more to make this foolish energy company whole.

This is why smart companies always plant software bombs in their computer systems, so that unless an elaborate code is entered at intervals, the ghost in the machine goes all kinds of poltergeist-y. By which time you and your people are well out of the country with whatever assets you can smuggle out.

It also helps if a bunch of your critical systems are proprietary and unique enough that only you make them, and they are essential to operations.

Of course, it also helps to have some concealed thermite charges that can be activated by remote control.

Ditto, or seize Bolivian assets sufficient for full compensation plus whatever covers any extra costs for the effort.
