Obama: US troops sent to aid evacuation of diplomats in Central African Republic

President Obama sent approximately 50 U.S. military personnel to Chad earlier this week to aid in the evacuation of U.S. embassy personnel and U.S. citizens from the neighboring Central African Republic.

In a letter to congressional leaders on Saturday, Obama cited the “deteriorating security situation” in the Central African Republic and the threat to U.S. citizens.

U.S. embassy personnel and several private U.S. citizens were evacuated from the Central African Republic capital of Bangui on Thursday.

Obama said the “stand-by security force” was deployed for the sole purpose of protecting U.S. citizens and property.

Rebels in the Central African Republic have seized at least 10 northern towns, according to the Associated Press, and on Saturday seized a city 114 miles from Bangui.

Obama cited the “deteriorating security situation”

I just have one question; How did he know? Surely our state department didn’t come up with this intel.

In Africa?

I’m sure the reason was that there were some BLACK personnel that needed rescue.

If none were in the Embassy, nothing would have been done.

Check youtube ... there must be an anti-muslim/mau mau/zulu whatever clip that has infuriated the natives.

Let's see ... the ME benghazians are relatively light skinned and muslim ... the african uprisers are dark skinned and muslim and zero is dark skinned and muslim.

Just sayin'

I thought the Administration’s protocol in this kind of situation is to let the Islamists kill or capture our personnel and take over the country. Why the change?

"I just have one question; How did he know? "

Good Question. How did he know about the "deteriorating security situation" in Central Africa, but wasn't aware of the same well-documented problem in Benghazi? We all know the answer, but unfortunately, he'll never be asked the question.

Zero wants to send troops there? Must be the gov’t is Islamofascist and is losing to the “wrong people”.

The Central African Republic also spent a few years under the name “Central African Empire” during the reign of one of the dictators in all but name — Giscard-D’estang of France had his “legacy” tarnished when it was revealed that he’d accepted some expensive gift from the dictator.

Long story short — the C.A.R. should just change its name to “We’re #^**ed”.

Thanks Libloather.

50 troops? The bad guys call that a target-rich environment.
